Why are we helping the Leafs shed cap lol. I don’t know much about him, I remember him looking like a giraffe though

For a team playing multiple AHL forward a night I’ll take it. Especially for a third

  3. I’m fine with this move, we will not miss that 3rd

  4. An NHL-caliber depth player. I like it.

Now let’s get a depth Defenseman

  5. hes a good two way player that adds depth to our team. not bad for a 3rd rounder.

  6. Gleb2006

Seems like a goal-first guy, only costs a third, on the right side of thirty too. If we keep him and have a fair deal, could be good part of the team for the next few years – tough to hate this trade

Last two Toronto Maple Leafs to wear #47:

    Leo Komarov (2013-18)

    Pierre Engvall (2020-23)

    Shrug.

Big body who honestly has scored at a surprising goal per game rate over the last few years. Don’t know much about him but I feel better throwing him out there every night over Ross.

He’s a better option than Koivula, Johnston or Durandeau at least

It’ll keep Ross out of the lineup, which is good. Probably keeps Koivula out too, which is also fine. Good bottom 6 add.

Leafs fan coming in peace. I loved Engvall as a bottom 6. He doesn’t have the best hands, and he’s not a tough guy, but he can skate like the wind and is great on the PK. take care of him.
Some of you will be disgusted by him, like you are watching the birth of a newborn giraffe clumsily dropping from it’s mother. But really, he’ll add to your roster. Enjoy.

Hes on my Isles in NHL22, he’s really good in the game so I’m sure that’ll translate to his real life performance

step aside patty kane, the REAL franchise level player has come to new york

This is the exact kind of move Lou didn’t make in 2019, 2020, and 2021 (and almost every other playoff team makes every year): adding a nice depth piece for minimal draft compensation to set up his team for a playoff run. It’s extremely frustrating to see Lou finally cashing in his chips to improve a worse roster, with worse coaching, when he stuck to half-measures (if any) when the Isles really had a chance to actually compete for a Cup.

The deal is more than fine in a vacuum and on the margins, and could well make the difference between getting WC2 and not, given how competitive that’s likely to be and the absolute garbage this team is icing every night (Ross and Koivula aren’t NHL players). But it just makes those previous deadlines even more disappointing.

Also, makes you wish Lou hadn’t extended Martin, Cbuck, and Ross, because Engvall is the kind of forward you’d want to extend after the season for a bottom 6 role; he’s already miles ahead of those guys and far more versatile. A 4th line of Parise-Cizikas-Engvall would certainly be the best in hockey. Alas, Lou would rather waste $5 million on three guys who barely belong in the NHL.

Line him up with Ross the Boss and turn the Bruins forwards to paste. 😂 That’s a tall line of hockey players man.

    13 14 27

    11 29 21

    Engvall 44 16

    17 53 20

  17. priester85

Third feels a tad high IMO but not so much so that it’s worth being upset about. Solid depth piece, especially considering where we currently are with injuries

The comments on the original post got me crying lol

Ross Johnston is so good he is making trade announcements. Ross the Boss for life.
