4.05 million AAV for those curious.
Let’s gooooo, perfect term and aav.
Another W for GMBM. Optimism for next year is skyrocketing. Would love Orlov to come home to round out a solid defense core, and to trade for some wing help.
heh he started off iffy but Laviolette fixed him
Solid
This is good news.
Good move.
noice
This means Jensen-Sandin pairing for second line, and they’re going to push Sandin to be a two-way Dman like Dima was
This is a W day for the Caps.
i feel like people are going to be on the fence about those. read a bunch of comments recently about wanting him dealt before the deadline. i actually like him and think keeping him has some benefits. i genenrally like him and want to see more from him.
i will say that a 3x 4million is a little bit steep given that he doesnt register that many points but not horrendous, just a bit higher than i expected if he was going to resign.
Yeah, this trade deadline is going exactly how I thought it would. Good re-signing. More trades to come probably
Sandin – Carlson
Fehervary – Jensen
Alexeyev – TvR (please)
GMBM make it happen!
A bit pricey, but good signing.
W
Was hoping this would happen. Quality pick moving defenseman. They’ll likely re-sign TVR as well
Like it. If TVR gets resigned, that’s the D core set in all truth.

seems reasonable to me
I am so happy with all of today’s moves!
Good but not great resign. Probably 1 more year than ideal but I think that’s part and parcel of getting the deal done. Very happy to have Jensen for another couple of years
Way too much for not enough. I would be happy with Jensen staying as a 3rd pairing guy but this is 2nd pair money which is a very real problem for Washington.
If the only change on Defense is Sandin for Orlov, then we have wasted a year to be in the exact same situation next year.
I’m satisfied with this. Bit much but I like it.
Not a fan of where this puts us with regards to the cap next year. I was thinking he would be in the low to mid 3 mil range, but 4 mil seems like more than we can afford. Can we keep TVR and Fehervary at this point? I know they won’t be the most expensive contracts, but we’ve basically got to try to make a bunch of call-ups and NAK/Irwin style contracts work to even ice a full roster next year. At least the cap might raise before we have to re-sign Sandin. Giving up a first for him in such a deep draft looks pretty bad if we can’t hold on to him past his current contract.
omg what?
I don’t understand what GMBM is doing.
We offload two 31 year olds and get a 33 year old. K. The 33 year old was a part of the package of draft picks. Whatever.
We trade a 30 year old for a 22 year old. Cool. We’re one of the oldest teams and badly needed to get younger.
We re-sign a 33 year old to a 3 year contract. Wtf.
I don’t mind re-signing him for that price if we’re planning on being competitive for the next two years. But does anyone think that’s going to happen? We’re still one of the oldest teams, our injury prone players are still on the team, and nobody wants mantha.
I like this, I think when hes played correctly, hes been great. Slightly expensive and olderish, but nothing horrible.
Am happy.
