I’m so torn… I want daddy to win a cup but that means I have to cheer for the leafs?
NotoriousBananaHavoc
I’m all for Maple Leafs to go to the finals or make it far Schenn is one player I’ll support even on a team I hate

Time to think outside the box.
He likes Vancouver, they like him, I could see him wanting to come back. He’s 33 (might be 34 in free agency, irrelevant for this)
He’s probably getting a raise in free agency.
You don’t get penalized if a player that signs under the age of 35 retires before their contract expires.
Therefore I would propose to Schenn, 7 x $775,000, full no trade, signing bonus of 2.625 million (possibley paid out over 2 or 3 years). This equals out to a salary of 1.15m which is the max buriable amount if he must be placed in abbotsford due to drop off in play, or he can retire at any point with no cap penalty. He also gets the no trade so he can feel comfortable.

Sadly, I doubt he will. Dude asked not to be traded for his new kids potential birth. They did it anyway. Why would he come back?

I feel bad for his wife
UnsuspiciousSith
He likes Vancouver, was not pleased with sitting at home for a week without playing and having his life up in the air while his wife is about to give birth.
This may or may not play a factor in him deciding to come back here.

I doubt he’s coming back. I hope he does, but I wonder how this all was for him.
N4ZZY2020
I wouldn’t be surprised if he does come back.

It’s okay, he just went out to get some milk…

Any chance the Leafs let him stay in Vancouver for a week or so until his baby’s born and wife is settled at home. Edit: the leafs are in town on Saturday anyway.

They sign him 2 years, 4 million dollars. He ain’t coming back.
