How consistently do these teams lose to bad teams at home?

  2. majorminorminor

Yeah but these teams will make the playoffs..not sure what you’re trying to say here.

The difference is that those teams’ playoff spots are secured. The Sabres are in a tight playoff race with one of the toughest remaining schedules so not getting points against bad teams makes their path harder. In a tight race with 7 teams for 2 spots, every point counts. Does the lose mean that the Sabres can’t make make the playoffs or aren’t playoffs caliber? Of course not, it just makes the path harder and means they will probably have to steal points against the top teams.

Those teams can afford to lose to bad teams. We can’t.

I always laugh at this because we were a bad team for over a decade. During that time, pretty much every team we beat was better than us. I can’t be surprised when we lose to a team like the Blue Jackets.

  6. The fact that it’s March and we are uttering the P word as Sabres fans about our team is pretty neat. Been waiting a long time for this.

Which of these teams is in a wildcard race?

We have twice as many wins as reg losses since the losing streak ended. Can’t expect us to win every game.

Records against the current bottom five teams in the standings (Columbus, Anaheim, Chicago, San Jose, Arizona):

    New Jersey: 8-0-0 (+20)

    Toronto: 4-4-2 (+5) LOL

    Carolina: 6-2-2 (+8)

    Tampa Bay: 8-0-2 (+20)

    Buffalo: 7-2-1 (+15)

I went into this without knowing what I’d find but was curious. Losses like last night can’t happen in the thick of a wild card race, but we’re not doing any worse than the top teams against the bottom of the barrel.

They played soft, and turned it on when they needed to. We play down to bad teams and it’s something they need to stop doing if they want to progress. It’s frustrating to watch something so obvious.
