    There goes those picks lol

Edit: at least I can cheer for bo to go deep in the playoffs now without thinking about the pick ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  2. 20PercentChunkier

    STOP. FUCKING. TRADING. PICKS.

  3. Nucksfan23

Right Handed Dmen on pace for 52 points

    4.4m contract expiring next year

    He’ll be an RFA

  4. MasterChrom

Of course this team wouldn’t hold onto the picks.

  5. SkidmarkDave

25 yo RHD. There’s Quinns partner for the next five years

  6. rkim1999

This is the type of trade we make when we are in contention, not when we are 6th worst team in the league

  7. wingdingcanuck

I take back everything fuck you Patrik

  8. BoeserIsGod

please tell me this wasn’t the ‘big deal’ they’ve been working on

  9. TransomBob

What a garbage move. The eternal ‘retool on the fly’ marches on!

  10. nilimas

Why is this team unable to stay the course on anything? We were doing well accumulating highish picks…

  11. oMenardo

Well let’s go Islanders then now 😅

  12. I’m happy with Hronek, but I would have preferred next year’s 2nd, or this year’s 3rd instead.

  13. nite_awol

I like the defenceman but wtf does this team hate draft picks?! We better get a draft pick back from Boeser and Miller trades.

  14. wingdingcanuck

They just traded a lottery pick to buy during a lost season what the fuck is this

  15. Charlie2343

I was so hype for just using draft picks god dammit

  16. TimsAFK

Holy shit we’re actually bringing in defensemen what is this timeline.

  17. WTFvancouver

Lol why. We making a run with 12 game left? This organization is so dysfunctional

  18. MasterChrom

Hronek is good a player, but losing that 1st stings a lot. Especially if it ends up being this year’s in a very stacked draft class. We also threw in this year’s 2nd as well. I don’t know man, I think we just got fleeced.

  19. LegendKiller7812

How is Hornek worth a first and a second

  20. Ruffianrushing

Not only did we trade a 1st in a deep draft, hronek has dealt with concussion and upper body issues this season…..

  21. accountnumber02

Hronek is looking like a top pairing defenceman and his analytics are extremely great defensively (dont’ watch enough wings games to judge myself). If this season was truely a breakout season and not a one off this will be an amazing trade. We don’t land a top pair RHD without some risk and as someone who’s hated the perpetual trading of assets, big fan of this.

  22. puck_boi_haircuit

Great job giving up draft picks in a historically deep draft for a win now piece that doesn’t really move the needle, given the other deficiencies in the roster. I guess we are clambering for a first round exit next yet, year again.

  23. JTMilleriswortha1st

My only hope is we get picks for Miller/Boeser

  24. makeanewblueprint

Did Benning slide in there to toss in the 2nd?

  25. AnimousVox

Hronek is a good player but this acquisition cost makes no sense for us, and Hronek is more of an offensive D than defensive which is still where our faults lie. Can’t say I’m a fan of this deal but we’ll see. Guess they weren’t kidding when they said they want to turn it around asap.

  26. DietFoods

They told us they want to compete within the next 2 years. People shouldn’t be surprised.

  27. resocks

Just…. One season. Can we commit to a reset for even just one season?

It’s been exactly one month since the Horvat trade. Rebuild over!

  28. _pavlovsdawg

Guys I’m starting to suspect I’m in an abusive relationship

  29. Fpsaddict10

I’m just here to laugh at everyone.

  30. SuddenlyChineseFood

Then: « DUH!!! DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE DEFENSE!!!! »

    Now: « REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! »

  31. I really like this tbh.

They said from the start they’re not doing a full blown rebuild, and this shows that. They’ve done exactly what they said they were aiming to do here. Hronek is a borderline elite RHD who fits perfectly into Hughes and Peteys timeline and is still under team control. What’d we get him for? A PIECE of a UFA deal that we made prior to this one and our second (which we may just recoup before this week is over…).

Essentially we traded Horvat (who was expiring and not going to re-sign!) and a 2nd for Beauvillier (who’s actually been pretty damn good for us so far), a projected NHL level prospect, and an elite young RHD with a 4th thrown in. Putting it this way seems like a pretty lopsided win for VAN tbh. Would any of you be complaining if Noah Dobson was part of the Horvat deal instead of their conditional 1st? I highly doubt it, and for those who don’t know, Hronek is actually pretty damn comparable to Dobson.

How exactly is this a loss? To me this seems like some great wheeling and dealing to get the end product that they were actually looking for… along with other pieces that go with it for a guy who was gone regardless

  32. meluvulongtime3

I will fucking die of old age before this team ever commits to a proper rebuild, I swear

  33. KingInTheFarNorth

He’ll probably be a great player for us. But I feel absolutely gutted rn.

  34. TheAngryChickaD

The mid round islanders pick could be anything! It could even be a Filip Hronek!

  35. MoodyJ87

I get the frustration but I’m going to play devils advocate.

Draft pics rarely pan out. Now we have a legit defenseman cost controlled for a couple years and don’t have to run the risk of a juolevi or lekki bust

    Horvat and a second for Hronek?…. I don’t fucking know, I quit

    Edit. And Beauliver (sp)

  36. Justafkout

So Detroit, who is miles better, is bringing in picks, while this group of old farts who have 1 iq between them is “retooling on the fly”. This is the most trash franchise in the league

  37. friedhamwallet

At least I can cheer for the islanders now without feeling shitty that the pick would be in the late 20s if they makes little run. Make me not hate this trade papa Horvat.

  38. jumpingoverclouds

Is there any reason why would couldn’t have made this deal at the draft ?

  39. ebb_omega

This thread ought to have a bunch of level-headed and reasonable reactions.

  40. kelsokennedy

and we finally get our 2016 draft defensemen! It’s wild how McAvoy, Sergachev, Chyrcrun, Girard, and Hronek were all taken after Juolevi in the first 2 rounds. It’s almost like any other dman pick would have changed the entire timeline.
