Out of playoffs since first month of season. So GM decides to stand pat end of trade deadline….lol. I guess he thought it will jell last 20 games…geez. Why spend that kind of money at start of season and get the same result.
Hes not reviewing calls anymore. Either the rookiers are hot, or the top line is hot or the d is hot or the goalie is hot. if i didnt know better seems like a incognito season tanking.
I called this last summer when Calgary fans were over the moon about the 3 big guns coming in on the trade. I knew Kadri would be the only trade that would do relatively well, because he's always been a hungry pitbull regardless of the circumstances. But I also knew Huberdeau would not do well. Though I never thought he'd underachieve to this extent. Both Huberdeau and Weeger were vividly shell shocked from day one with the trade. More so Huberdeau. When your heart's not in it, it ain't gonna happen no matter how hard you try. Huberdeau was a key piece in the Flames line up, but he never wanted to be a Flame from day 1. Everybody knew that. The best thing Calgary could and should have done was trade Huberdeau by the 2023 trade deadline, retain some salary and get some monster assets back. Now that that opportunity is gone, my guess is Huberdeau will ask to be traded this summer. Calgary might be in for the Karlsson sweepstakes this summer. Dollar in dollar out with San Jose retaining a bit to make it work. Huberdeau was never a good fit for Calgary. I saw that from day 1. Calgary needs to figure this one out, because unless you get a monster set up guy on the team for Huberdeau, he'll have the same kind of year next year. Although Sutter was being sarcastic in his previous press conference…he said "we need to win 21 games in a row". He's not far off from that. Calgary needs to go on a 12, 13, 14 consecutive game heater to have a chance of securing a wild card spot. Not going to happen this year for Calgary.
