Severson should only be concerned with himself. I don’t see any chance he gets an extension or is on this roster next season.

Main concern is Bratts agent. His Swedish low agency are not used to handle high end NHL players and he wants his cut. Suspect he will haggle with his golden goose in bratt unfortunately for the Devils. Bratt for 7×6,5 = perfect. Suspect Timo will settle for 8,5.
All I can say is the Devils will sign Bratt before they even think about signing Meier. The Devils won’t disrespect Bratt like that! He’s been here first and will be taken care of first. I think Sevo comments are based on that. He wants his friend to get his first.
This narrative about not paying anyone more than Jack is being overemphasized. They were already going to offer Johnny Gaudreau more than Jack.
Team discounts are great and everything but I don't think we can keep asking every player to do it. Money is obviously important to Bratt especially if it's got Sevo talkin about it, and we know how contract talks have been. Some guys just want money and will earn every penny and I think the Devils are going to have to pay up for both players. 8-9 mil each. Still have 16-18 mil for Graves and RFAs. Idk about Tatar. He's good now, but last 2 years, no.
Tom Wilson would be a good pickup but are the Capitals going to be sellers.? Goal tending may be another need since Vanecek has been inconsistent as of late, but Schmid has been really solid.

We should get Henrique from the Ducks! He'd be cheap and would be the best bottom 6 addition we could get. 2 way responsible forward, plays PK, still scores, and is a leader and veteran.

Severson is underrated by the fanbase but he will not be worth what he asks for on his next contract. Especially not since we will have to shed some cap to fit all key pieces in. Plus I really hope Tatar is signed, he's been stellar. Haula is also underrated by the fanbase but he definitely isn't putting up enough points, wouldn't mind him centering the 3rd line though if the money and term isn't high.

We could use some more grit and toughness on this team but not if it's going to cost serious draft capital, we're not nearly as desperate as some other older, more veteran-laden teams, to make a deep Cup run this year.

As for Bratt and Meier, I don't think they're going to sign for anything less than $8 million per year apiece. As much as I'd love to see them sign team-friendly deals, David Pastrnak just signed for $90 million over eight years.
I don't think that would be unreasonable because these next contracts might be the last ones they sign for big money. While Hischier and Hughes are underpaid now, I fully expect them to get extensions several years from now.
Devils need some physichal players or they're going to get pushed around. Offense is not the issue. They don't play any defense. How does that work in the playoffs?
