  1. I think Yzerplan thinks the team is further away than most fans do, and I tend to agree with his philosophy. We are a bottom 1/3 team in almost every advanced analytic, and we really dont lose much by selling these guys. Also 2024 is going to be a HUGE year for ufa signings.

  2. Those 2 Ottawa games were the turning point of the whole season. Went from probable playoff appearance to big time sellers at Deadline. Hopefully Stevie can use those many many picks to draft well and possibly trade for players in the offseason.

  3. I am going to enjoy watching Tyler Bertuzzi lift the Stanley Cup. I said way back at the beginning of the year if they ever trade him he will lift the cup over his head before anybody in that locker room. Best thing now for the Wings is to tank the rest of the season.

  4. She’s going to be a long ol road folks. But just gotta bite the bullet for now. Be all worth it in the end. Soon Detroit will be back on top of the league.

  5. It's evident now that Steve Yzerman is basing Detroit's rebuild around Lucas Raymond and Mo Seider age group instead of Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi age group. Steve Yzerman is doing it the proper way. It just takes a little more time. It's better to have a great team than a good team. Detroit will be really good in a few years. Detroit is being built for success and to be great for a decade plus. Trust in the Yzerplan!

  6. Give Ned the start tomorrow, the team has literally nothing to lose

  7. “He’s calculated, he’s focused, he knows what he wants” sounds like a bald man having sex

  8. Yzerman is failing in real time and this is exactly what failure looks like. If you're dumping 25 year old right shot defenseman for picks in your 4th year rebuilding then you suck plain and simple.

  9. I can't decide who bothers me more… Art or HSJ… both voices are like nails on a chalkboard.

  10. I think we might see Bert back in the off season. He's UFA after the season.

  11. Thanks to all three of you for another great podcast, love it.

Art, I'm really impressed how cool you act throughout the podcast even though there are tons of great questions to ask, you never freak out once. Well done Art and keep it up since you know a lot of hockey and that's what I want to hear as a listener.

That the team is at an important crossroads is not so difficult to see in our two meetings with Ottawa. I'm glad we didn't win them both, but more that reality is more natural here, we're not good enough yet and won't be yet as there are many things to work on (boring as fans, sure).

As for the question of selling or buying, the answer given by Stevie, that he never intended to buy, drove me a little crazy. He certainly clarifies the answer in more depth and then I calm down somewhat, not much but somewhat.

The reality is perhaps as simple that there are no assets left for reasons that lie in the last 20 years of success that means making the playoffs in those decades. Successes cost more and become very expensive history if done carelessly from our GM/Owner back then.

I hope we will see a more active GM as a buyer during the next three years who really goes all out to get that Elite star player. DRW has a very good base (core) in the team to build on and we have a pool of talent today and tomorrow. However, I don't really see how we will get that player via the draft and offseason.

I liked Stevie's conclusion the most that he is willing to listen to other GMs and could very well imagine using draft picks more actively to get players with the extra level we lack on the team today. I also hope that he personally leads that contact with other GMs, because we have the capital and the assets today.

Present, Also looking forward to seeing more of our talent given opportunities in RW now. Extremely happy to hear that Stevie insists that there are several players to choose from and not just Edvinsson. As a Swedish fan, thats what I want to hear.

When it comes to Kasper, he will come over and he will come under the best possible condition and do everything he can to make it difficult for our GM to say no to him. As I see it, Only a longterm injury can prevent Kasper from taking that opportunity soon.

Great time to be a DRW fan for sure and I think the team needs ~ 3 more years to get all the pieces together to become a stable playoff team. Well it´s up to our GM/Owner to make that happend, and I stand by the Yzerplan, not the owners so much.

  12. "If your getting the best deal early, don't mess around and get it done" Steve Yzerman
