It hurts to see him go but he would never get the ice time here he needs to develop into the great player he can be. Much better chance to have more of it in Washington, and to make the mistakes along the way that will inevitably come with his development.
Say what you will about his play or his decision to hold out of training camp for the contract but he’s always been a class act and a team player. Rooting for Washington a little bit more from here on out
I sound like a broken record but I expect this to go down as Dubas’ worst move in a few years.
I still think he was doing right by the player. Don’t think this makes Dubas a bad GM by any means, Rasmus was just miscast and even if he did slot in higher he would have to get paid eventually anyway. I like having the first , I saw someone mentioning it could be used as a barganing chip to move on from Murray as a worst case scenario which could be important if we want to re-sign Sammy.
Sandin needed an opportunity to be a top4 damn in the NHL and he won’t get one here with rielly. It wasn’t a trade you wanted to do but dubas did right by the player and it increases our reputation as a place players want to play in. At the very least, Dubas’ reputation as a gm.
I’m ready for the The Sandin return when we reload in 2034.
