  1. Love this trade, but Barrie going the other way I highly disagree with. I don’t wanna be one of those “make a trade, but I hate the trade you made” but Barrie?? I’d rather Ceci, and then thrown in a 3rd if it doesn’t have enough value, and get more salary retained. At this point you gotta trade Yamo for chychrun?

  2. Barrie is good offensively, but lacked defensively. Oilers needed more defence. This is Good, anything that gives nurse less minutes is good.

  3. Oil lose their QB on the powerplay and are now short 1 right-handed defenseman. They also give up two 1st round picks. I don't think this was a good deal.

  4. Money had to go out and you can't expect teams to take players we don't want/need. Any you guys freaking out its Barrie haven't been paying attention since Barrie has always been the one to go since the Oilers do not need more offense.

  5. The Oilers could still make Chychrun work. I’m just not sold after seeing the McCabe deal that Arizona isn’t willing to retain money……

  6. Almost all the experts say this trade gives Edmonton more of what they need. Barrie was offence but not defense and the numbers are actually similar with him on and off the PP the past few years (shockingly).

  7. After all of Holland's critics, he was patient and hit 2 home runs. Getting rid of 100% of Jesse's contract without having to send anything else to convince someone to take him is massive. And Ekholm is 100% the right choice over Chycrun. Ekholm has missed 20 games for injury in his 719 game career, Chycrun is injury prone and not as good defensively as Ekholm, and defense is what we need. Sad to see Barrie go, but we don't need him and Bouchard, and we needed to move the contract to make this possible so it is the way it is – Bouchard's the new PP guy now.

Couple more small moves and we're ready for the run! GO OIL!

  8. Why are you guys stunned? This makes 100% perfect sense – Bouchard and Barrie are redundant – Barrie was good on the PP, but his contract allows this deal to happen and Ekholm will hopefully have a Duncan Keith effect and stabilize the blue line
