Who cares about getting to the Final if we have no chance of winning it? There’s no way this team beats the top 5 teams in the East. Really poor job at the deadline imo.

To say who cares bout getting to the Finals…you must be a spoiled entitled fan.Any season that ends even in a conference final is a success.But I didnt expect anything major…like 2c uograde or anything.But i do think its super risky….borderline delusional/irresponsible-to not add a depth dman-especially with Manson out now.
We will see-they have earned the benefit of doubt. But i was right that the Nemeth/Soderburg deadline,was a disaster that would cost them,& it did bigtime. Soderburg was washed,& Nemeth was almost Vegas MVP.I feel similar today in a different way. Jack Johnson isnt #6…hes at least #5 without Manson,& EJ.If anybody else gets hurt on defense-we might as well forfeit. And with this team-of course 2 or 3 will get hurt.They had 8 I felt decent about last playoffs-before Girard went down.
I just dont wanna hear em blaming injuries now,if the season blows up cuz of dman injuries or depth. They chose to not do anything there,& only have themselves to blame. If theyd just kept Euglund,& given up 4th rounder or whatever for JJ-id be feeling much better.

I believe most of the heavy lifting was done in the off-season, the guys that they had to sign to remain competitive, even with Kadri, Kemper and Berky walking out the door, Avs didn't have enuf money or trade capital to replace the quality of players they did sign. Did they do enuf? I'm not sure, cause Avs being defending cup champs is the team to beat. I think if the remain healthy and play the game with their pedigree, they will still be the team to beat.
next year mackinnon's cap hit doubles, byram and newhook have their rookie deals expire. cap is still not projected to increase a lot next year, this was a year to splurge. it is also odd to say that you believe the avs can get through the west no problem but then wont confidently say they can also beat what ever team comes out of the east. you dont just look at getting out of the conference, you look to win the whole thing.
jesse is downplaying last year's deadline acquisitions. manson and lehkonen were not big names but they were inspired pick ups that they gave up a decent amount for like aj said. this year's acquisitions feel like the soderberg, nemeth and dubnyk bargain bin special. you're correct though they shouldnt force it for some players they dont actually believe in.
I know we are mostly cap constricted next year, this core will be hopefully contending for many more years. So not going all in this year totally cool for the long term

The Capitals fans are glad Eller is gone, that says everything. The Avs did not replace Burky, Kadri, plus did not get a center who could replace Landeskog, and he will not play this season period. So, management should get an F for failed, a b2b is out of the door. They were enough players available that would have made a difference for not so much money like Barbashev or Bjugstad or Athanasiou, but MacFarland and Sakic have the weird idea that this depleted roster is good enough to beat Boston or the Rangers. When you saw that first period against the young New Jersey guys, there is your answer. Sakic made the HUGE mistake not to hold on to either Kadri or Burky, he let them both depart and got NOTHING in return. How could you do that? Neither JT nor Rodrigues nor Newhook can be like Naz and it will show in the playoffs. I bet, if they get Vegas in the first, they’re done.

My lord everyone on here thinks the real nhl is franchise mode on nhl 23, just because there was another "big name" we could have gotten doesn't mean they would have impacted winning at all. Very rarely does the team that makes all the big splashes at the deadline actually win it all
This season is the Avs best chance to have a deep, fully stacked roster for a while. Next year will be so cap crunched, there will be MANY min salary players filling out the roster. On paper they’ll be worse next year, that’s why it’s disappointing they didn’t do more this TDL
