Yeah, totally agree with the grade you gave Ottawa. Dorion hit a home run with the Chychrun trade when everyone thought he was gonna be worth 2 1st rounders + top prospect+. That trade alone completely solidifies and changes their blue line for the next 2 years and possibly more if Chychrun decides to resign with Ottawa. Are they competitive now and make a run to squeak in the playoffs? I think they just might barely miss out on the post-season. However, I do think next year will be a different story and it will light a fire in everyone to play more meaningful games in the early start of the season.
Fletcher is the worst GM in the league and the fact that Philly hired him still amazes me. The moment he signed Parise and Suter to 13 year contracts for 7mil AAV each when they were already 27 years old cemented the fact that he's the worst. Parise and Suter were great players for the Wild and I have nothing against them, but Fletcher is very stupid for signing them for that long at that price. And I agree about the Greenway trade. I love Greenway, he was one of my favorite players last season. But Buffalo paid way too much for him, and I'm completely fine with it.

Van couldn't trade Miller for just picks because if they did that means they traded horvat without needing to.
For TB, I get the rationalization for Jeannot, but I don't see how you don't get some picks further down the road thrown in there. Like at least nab a 3rd or 4th in like 2027 so you it could either 1) be closer to a time when you need to rebuild/retool, or 2) you could repackage it for a deal similar to the Jeannot one as needed between now and 2027
I like the moves the Oilers made. JP gets a fresh start and a reunion with a WJC teammate in Aho, Ekholm is the shutdown D-man we desperately needed since Larsson left town, Bjugstad helps solidify the Bottom 6, and the team feels more playoff ready than three weeks ago.
But man, I gotta shake my head at the Panthers. It's like they had no idea on whether to be buyers and load up for a run, or to be sellers and move some playoff calibre players. In the end, they became neither and stood pat, which hurts their playoff chances, and they miss out on drafting in the first round. For potentially the next 3 years.
Grav, Domi for Khudobin was goated. We got more offensive talent for an injured goalie.

I think you gave the Canucks way too much credit here. On paper divorced of context sure, the trades can look decent. But the Cancucks should be rebuilding. And they aren't. And thats a problem. So in the short term this was decent, in the long term this was devastating.

It's hard to grade teams because you don't know the situations. I'm pretty sure Montreal TRIED to get rid of their players. They were probably on the phones non-stop until 31 teams told them F-off. They clearly just couldn't. I suspect Philadelphia is similar. At the end of the day, a lot of these players are overpaid and underperforming.
