  1. At least he was thinking off keeping him but at the end of the day that was probably the best thing for the redwings to get rid of him oh well

  2. I would of dumped larkin and taken vrana. When you're building around larkin your future is average.

  3. 5 first round picks. Heard Vrana was going to demand buyout no matter what. I am no prophet; but I am going to say Steve Yzerman is going to make more than one big move in the near future. There’s no way that many draft picks will be on this team. Move them for established team control assets (superstars that are near or at end of ELC). This team has organizational depth at an unreal level.

  4. i wish bert would've taken a discount… is what it is.

  5. Wow I am surprised that Yzerman is on this mea culpa tour – he had no other realistic option – some of these fans are delusional

  6. Nothing like getting rid of our core players as we were close to making the playoffs for the first time in years. I feel like we're starting over again. I hope Stevie y knows what he's doing

  7. Yzerman has been acting way too conservative running the Wings. Back in tampa he was making 3 or 4 trades a year. Sometimes the big club, sometimes the minor club. Now he is too timid to make trades in Detroit. I'm talking real trades, not end of the year trade guys for a draft pick. Ottawa blows up their team every 5 or 6 years, yet they are farther along than us. Sometimes you have to move a Seider or or a Raymond if they can net you 2 or 3 players in return. It seems to happen quite often around the league. Just not in Detroit.

  8. In Stevie We Trust we as wings fans have a bright future just have to trust Yzerman it will happen!!!!!

  9. This sucks. It's like Yzerman is on an apology tour after the TDL. He's doing interview after interview justifying his moves. He doesn't need to.
He did exactly what needed to be done. We were better, but we weren't there yet. It was obvious before those Ottawa games.
Now we have a glut of juicy draft picks at a time when a bunch of teams are so tight against the Cap, they won't be able to make qualifying offers to solid RFAs. We can trade those picks for established players instead of using magic beans.
This off season is going to yield some solid fleecing by Yzerman, who has the keenest eye for trading horseflesh of any GM I've ever seen.

  10. I understand why he traded Bertuzzi, but i also think if there’s any player to slightly overpay, it should be him. I’m biased as Bert was my favorite wing, but he’s also an extremely rare type of player that cup winning teams usually have.

On paper, it made sense for Stevie to trade him, but I’m afraid of what losing him will do to the mindset/attitude/vibe etc of the team. There’s no one on the team that can replace what he brought.

  11. Damn The Ticket gets right to the point!
    Interviewing the man!
    Asking the questions!
    Well done!

  12. i stay on top of most of Yzermans press. This interview is really fluid and insightful. Im glad hes our GM.

  13. We need to remember that Bertuzzi & Hronek were from the Holland era, and NOT necessarily a part of the Yzerplan.
