I applaud the sentiment, but it feels forced. And with all the dum dums losing their mind over it, seems like the NHL needs to rethink this.

  2. tritongamez

I just like the rainbow logos lol, not sure why people have fits about them.

  3. Straight-Plate-5256

Just let the players that support it wear it and the ones that don’t don’t wear it. Players can have whatever views they want 🤷‍♂️

Edit: Jesus christ, I support the cause and would rather they do it, but if the choice is none or some players who are choosing to support it… which would you rather have?

  4. johnyrockets81

I’m so happy all this nonsense is finally coming to an end. Get rid of pride night altogether. LGTBQ fans are welcome at every game, just like everyone else.

  5. JUICYLIPS50

I love to see it i hope all the nhl does it

  6. WeimarStreetCrust

It’s all stupid virtue signaling anyways. If a player wants to flex rainbow jerseys. Fine, but stop making this a team wide thing. It’s just dumb.

  7. darthduder666

I don’t understand the people who make such a big deal about Pride Warmup Jerseys. They argue that teams and the NHL need to keep politics out of hockey. Okay, well why don’t the same said people complain when teams honor the military?

  8. Duggiefresh13

Just get rid of them all then

  9. Cam4526

The NHL needs to stop the virtue signalling. Wearing a jersey with a rainbow colour scheme doesn’t raise any sort of awareness, just more in-your-face woke behaviour.

The NHL association has the funds and reach to legitimately help people. This isn’t it

  10. Celestial_Mycology

I agree with the notion that somebody shouldn’t be forced to wear or “support” something they don’t believe in.

  11. Uncle-203

Hurting the pocketbook wearing this crap?

  12. Spiritual_Holiday511

God forbid the players have to wear a rainbow logo for 20 minutes that then gets auctioned off for charity. Didn’t think I needed another reason to dislike the wild, but here it is.

  13. Immo406

It’s been confirmed, the Wild hates dey gehs

  14. Elusive_Goose85

I’m not sure how to react here. I want the league and the sport to feel inclusive. I also don’t want anyone to feel like a sideshow.

  15. kiddocontay

gotta say, I don’t really give a shit either way man

  16. comacove

None of this pride stuff is sincere on the part of team owners, so who gives a shit, same with this whole acknowledging the land farce some teams got going on. These are all things for teams to keep up with the topic du jour and not get « cancelled ». Bet players can feel how forced this all looks and, even if they support it, it’s getting to be a bit much.

  17. Lee-HarveyTeabag

I mean, the easiest thing to do would be to not have any sort of “appreciation nights.” Because the inverse is a jersey for every possible occasion.

  18. georgeBarkley12

My dislike for things has less to do about the thing and more to do about the attempt to force me to like it.

  19. No-Wrongdoer972

As a gay man, I really don’t care. Performative compliance is wholly uninteresting to me.

  20. enditallalready2

I wonder if these decisions are by owners, general managers, or by the players.

  21. Alan_Stanwyk

Forcing this on the players just seems backwards Offer the jerseys in the pro shops, if they wear them on the ice…cool, if not, you can still own it.

    This is just getting tiresome.

  22. nathaniel29903

Who cares? I don’t think we need a jersey to feel inclusive. If the wild don’t wear a camo jersey on veteran’s day does that mean they hate the troops? IMHO which means nothing wearing a jersey dosnt mean you give a flying fuck about the cause it’s just a political move.

  23. Starmann30

Why would this be an issue at all? It’s a warm up jersey. Lol I swear some people in this world just look for anything to be mad at. 🤦🏻

  24. happyhooker1

Good. We need to stop letting 1% of the population control the entire country. Do what you want but leave me out of it.

  25. RobstPierres

Just stay TF out of it, wear your “teams” jersey and play hockey

  26. revolutiontime161

I’d rather support this than that forced military bullshit !

  27. TheJaice

Whether you think it’s a sincere effort at inclusion or just jumping on a bandwagon, cancelling these things once they’ve been scheduled is a really bad look for the NHL.

  28. Kuranator

Rhen do military night, breat cancer, etc
    ..

  29. pup5581

They have no issues with the « support the troops » jerseys though….

  30. SadEmploy3978

To those citing religion as an excuse for skipping Pride night, Riddle me this. If someone belongs to a religion that preaches conscientious objection, would you be okay with them skipping Military Pride Night?

  31. Good. No need to celebrate sexuality.

  32. Th3L3ftNut

I’ve read a book before, it was called the Scarlet Letter

The fact that the LBGTQIA+2’s and their allies are so fragile that a piece of cloth could make or break their lives should be the story. The fact that there is an inability to separate a persons choice of cloth to wear and their feelings of support for a group is crazy.

I whole heartedly support the LBG community, but I won’t ever wear a fucking pride flag or any other stupid ass rainbow on a shirt, or my shoes, or my underwear – and that’s my choice. Doesn’t mean I don’t support your rights.

But the fact that you don’t support my right to choose is really telling

  33. pastellioness

I know there are people who say « Performative compliance is wholly uninteresting to me. » and yeah, i get it.

But it’s sometimes not about you.

it’s about that teen or young adult seeing their favorite star wearing this and it says to them « I support you. you are loved. »

I’m not saying that player doesn’t, I’m saying that’s how that kid that’s scared will these jerseys

  34. 35RoloSmith41

Wish everyone would stop being outraged for other people. So sick of the outrage culture.

Gay people say they don’t even care so why should anyone else. It’s all just political BS anyways.

  35. authenticlives

As a trans woman that used to love hockey I have to say…whatever. I know the sport is full of homophones on and off the ice. I was never welcome and don’t I will never feel welcome. These jerseys gave me some hope things would change. I’m glad that hope is gone so I can move on.

  36. saturnsnephew

And once again the people that are upset aren’t even the « target » demographic.

  37. mandn92196

Are they ditching the military propaganda jerseys too?

  38. FatStupidOldMan

It was a nice, fun, interesting initiative. It’s representation is important. I especially in sports like hockey where there’s still a lot of issues around sexuality (Kyle Beach anyone?) and racism.

When I team onboards with initiatives like this, it’s a goos thing. Of course, efforts should definitely go beyond rainbow jerseys.

But, the NHL and hockey in general needs help in this regard… but the league has a reputation for being discriminatory and a “old boys club”.

  39. TDExDreamville

It’s funny how the tune changes when multiple teams decide to not wear the jerseys. Wasn’t it just a month or so ago, this subreddit was on fire reacting to Provorov not wearing the jersey. Absolutely decimating his character. Y’all are a bunch of jokes on here.

  40. Bowstead

So who’s done it so far? Am I out of the mix?
