  1. Poor Sabres fans. This garbage call likely causes them to miss the playoffs again

  2. Keep crying Sabres fans, it was ruled a good goal so it is a good goal, your team couldn’t do anything in the playoffs either way, haha

  3. In a must win game for both team, the refs just gave the islanders the 2 points

  4. There’s no question that this is a good overturn. He didn’t touch the puck with his skate. The call on the ice is ridiculous. Get consistent NHL

  5. Islanders fan here definitely wasn’t a true kicking motion but he moved his leg to redirect it
That’s how it looks to me

  6. He stuck his leg out in the direction of the net to deflect the puck; an obvious kick. The refs are against Buffalo.

  7. Bad call! If it was a redirect why was his foot turned as of kicking on the overhead view? Knee jerking is not a redirect. Shin in the wrong place – then yes I’d agree. 1:52

  8. Sabres fan here , my question is why the heck is Fasching alone in front of the net!? Sabres have the Worst D zone coverage! Jokiharju Clague and Bryson are AHL D men !

  9. As a sabres fan the puck deflected off him it's a good goal refs got it right ✅️

  10. Buffalo Sabres got cheated in this game no doubt about that. That goal shouldn't of count.

  11. You see calls like this allowed, calls like the one against flames in the playoffs getting called back, and you start to wonder if they're just flipping a coin in the situation room.

  12. That goal is BS clear kicking motion. Ive seen players stop and have the puck go off their skate and have it get disallowed. TORONTO called this game because they know they will lose in rd 1 and want to put buffalo down. These ESPN guys are idiots.

  13. The way this rule is written needs to be fixed asap. What constitutes a kicking motion? They clearly don't have a set standard. The guy lifts his leg off the ice and swings his leg/foot forward to hit the puck into the net. If that doesn't constitute a kick, then what are we looking for? Why was this rule changed in the first place btw!? This was never a problem before. You just couldn't direct the puck into the net with your skate/leg. Simple as that. No bs ensued. End rant.

  14. Sabres fan here. By no means did the Sabres deserve to win this game. Overall we were outplayed and our defense in particular was not good. As others have pointed out, our defense should have never allowed Fasching to be in that spot in front of the net undefended to begin with. However, this was an annoying call and the announcers were even more annoying. Idk how they could say “it’s not a kicking motion” when it’s clearly a FREAKING KICKING motion! My understanding is that the League has recently changed the rules regarding pucks kicked in off the leg and that’s why this gaol was overturned. It’s just very frustrating, Buffalo seems to always get the short end of the stick! And no we are not over Brett Hull’s illegal goal 1999. I will go to my grave with hatred in my heart for the people responsible for that call on June 19th, 1999! We are not over the illegal forward football pass from that winter either!
I wont hold a grudge this time because again, we deserved to loose so congratulations to the Islanders even though Buffalo always gets screwed on the big calls at the critical points in the season!

  15. Sabres fan at best this was a 50/50 Call. the call on the ice no goal. He did move his knee but I don't know about distinct motion. Bad break but i don't think it was a blown call. Just 50/50 it is what it is.

  16. My problem is them OVERTURNING it. If it was a goal on the ice and it stood then I wouldn’t really have a problem.. but it’s the fact that it was no goal and somehow they saw that this CLEARLY wasn’t a kick that baffles me. Whatever the call on the ice was should’ve been the call no matter if they called it a goal or not. It’s not clear enough to say it was or wasn’t a kicking motion so you should go with the call on the ice.

  17. This rule will get a look at in the offseason. The rule is that a kick only counts for foot or skate.

  18. For all of you who dont care to read or understand the rule… in simple terms this is a good goal because it hit off his shin and not his skate/foot. The only way it can be called a distinct kicking motion is if it goes off the foot or skates. if it hits anywhere else even if they are "kicking" it is still a good goal.

  19. This should clearly not be a goal. The distinct kicking motion standard should not be applied as the puck did not go in of the skate. It is clearly an intentional redirection, which is not a legal goal (it's of course legal to redirect it with the skate, but this was not done with the skate).

  20. Par for the Sabres. If they were Boston, Toronto, the Rangers, etc. that’s no goal.

Missing Tuch, Samuelsson, Stillman hurt more than that goal, but I’m not surprised a questionable call went against them, either. Teams that haven’t been successful in more than a decade DON’T get calls going their way too often.

And stop hitting the posts 15 times a game, and start clearing the crease; that jammed-in goal that started from BEHIND THE NET, was irritating as hell to watch.

  21. Goal. Watch in real time if you need, he jolted his whole body at the puck to get a deflection. He didn’t extend his knee to kick at the puck, to kick u need to extend your leg and push the puck. He took a forward step and kept his leg in the same position, keeping the knee bent. It’s a deflection, goal.

  22. that's stupid rule always will go 50 -50….but Iam ok with this call

  23. Sticking your leg out to touch an object is a kick, if the goalie saved that would they give him a shot on goal? No they would not. Bad call

  24. First it was a no.goal then the referee came back and said good goal that pissed me off it was clearly kicked in the net come on wise up because I have been avid Sabres fan since mid 70s and my wish is they make the playoffs.
