KK couldn't ghost the Habs. If they matched he had to sign.
Montreal can't develop players and always over hype their prospects. Its a shame price wasted his whole career there .

The thing with Kotkaniemi is that he was quite far from being a consensus 3rd pick, but the Habs absolutely wanted a center. And if you look at all the other players in that draft, Kotkaniemi is still by far the best center to come out of it. So the Habs actually did pick the player they wanted to pick, but picking for position instead of the best available player was once again proven to be a bad idea in hindsight.
We dont give a fuck about an over paid player that can only score on empty or SOG….. They can keep him.

Lets face it, we can't make any draft picks work for us and haven't since 2007. Even when we have had a decent prospect, we've traded them for someone elses prospect a few years older (like Sergachev for Drouin). These days I just wait for us to tank our next prospect at the earliest opportunity. Defying the odds in 2021 to reach the Stanley Cup shouldn't hide the fact we have been "rebuilding" since 1995.
He was playing well in the 2021 playoffs, and they benched him, which was very strange to me. He was not happy about that at all, so when he got offer sheeted he was all on board.
KK was very young when he played with Mtl. He also was very close to his dad, and his dad was going through major issues from health to emotional and legal problems. Those problems are behind him and it's normal he's doing better. Good for him.
Hindsight is always 20/20. KK won this transaction.

Hes playing on the second best team in the league … of course he is going to develop and do well. I'm 99% certain that if you were to put him in the Shark for example, he would go back to old habits and his former self quickly. I think hes decent, is he worth his salary ? no…
U could have put Slaf onto this Bruins roster this year and he would've put out over 20 goals easily. Different context means u literally cannot ask yourself any question. KK was very very bad when he was with us.. I'm happy for him, but I doubt he's ever going to top 30 goals a season ever.

InYemmy not Cock -in – Yemmy! Second if you have been watching the Canes you would know that the second line with KK at 2c has been the top scoring line for the Canes! KK was moved to 4C for injury reasons and the second line went dormant. He has been back since January and not only is that second line going again so is his numbers. I know his numbers were not there in the start of the season but if there were a such thing as a third assist, he would have been racking them up. All year he has been winning face-offs and battles on the boards that has lead to Necas and Svech/Turbo scoring the goals. Plus he has become great on both sides of the puck. The Canes develop 200 ft players. Rod demands defense first. The Canes know how to take poorly developed players and fix them. I can't wait to see how good Pulj will be after a few years. KK will only get better. Good long term deal by the Canes. As for last nights game…. KK with the winning SO goal!!!!!Habs beat by their X player in shootout. as a canes fan with friends who are diehard habs fans this felt good.

I'm TML fan and I always admired Kotki! He was a jocker in the Leafs-Hubs series and he did very well for his team, unfortunately for Leafs. Happy he went to Carolina.
What are you talking about? It wasn’t a brutal start to the season. It was rough when you only look at the points, but when you look at other things like defense and F/O% he was fine. KK had a below expectation start to his season, not a brutal start.

They were banking on Jesperi Kotkaniemi, but he failed HARD. So they traded him and he peaced out to Carolina. Marc Bergevin was a dumpster fire. Logan Mailloux said he didn't want to be drafted after what happened and he drafted him anyways. That was the end of Bergevin in Montreal. Dumbass.
