Podcast « McD, Skinner & 4th Line lead Oil over Sabres » de The Cult of Hockey
Faisons cela! Le balado Cult of Hockey. Par les fidèles et pour les fidèles, ce soir avec Bruce McCurdy et David Staples. Ils profitent de la victoire 3-2 d’Edmonton contre les Sabres de Buffalo.
Shore looks like a different player since being called back up. He's been very effective. If he can keep playing this way night-in and night-out, I wouldn't mind signing him for another year at base NHL salary.
I kind of found this game to be more like a late October early November kind of vibe, very little intensity and hitting but it's still an important win…and I'll once again sacrifice something to the gods who gave us Connor!
The difference between Skinner and Campbell is that Skinner has done nothing but continually exceed expectations. While the opposite can be said of Campbell.
I was impressed by Bjugstad tonight. I thought he made a few minor mistakes but was able to recover with that long reach of his. He was getting his stick in everywhere. And that 10-0 stat is amazing, I didn't notice his draws.
The 4 major reasons why the Oilers won this game; a) A great performance by Stu Skinner. b) McDavid being McDavid scoring another pair of goals. c) Considering their limited time on ice, a solid performance by Edmonton's 4th line. d) A well coached game for the Oilers versus a very strong challenge from the Sabers. Go Oilers!!
so hard to predict when will win… and when will lose !! basically tied w COLOR now… & would face DAL or VEGAS. likely best if can catch up to SEA or LA & not have to face the #1 teams in West? Need to be sure Skinner gets a rest before the Playoffs. All knew Campbell was shaky but Holland gambled anyway — seems he will just be capable of giving the rookie a rest at times over the next 5 years/ shame to use CAP this way
Hopefully when big boy, no chintzy penalty time starts( playoffs) these guys are ready. Looking good with Skinner. His time with Smitty gave him attitude!
Campbell in my mind should play no more than 5 or 6 games the rest of the season including the playoffs then take the summer to really work on improving. Make himself bigger in next, work on dealing with deflections, and get better at breakaways. Then come back confident the next season.
Did you know you can review the game without talking shit about Jack Campbell? Edmonton media is the worst, maybe try being a human being first and sports commentator second
Oilers were 49-33 last year incl. OTL….. this year 35-30 thus far…..in need of a 14-3 run to meet that this season~lets see how it wraps up. Thumbs up fella's
I thought your comments about Devin Shore's recent improvements were bang on. Being sent to the minor's should not always be considered a bad thing. Sometimes players just need time to simplify their game and reflect on the privileges to play in the NHL. Hint Hint ……
Lucky win…the Sabers were all over the Oilers for 60 minutes….Superman win by McDavid…my money says Buffalo wins a 7 game series 8-10 times…..the Sabers System is really top notch cutting edge NHS and they are the only Club using this System variant. …thats why they were all over Edmonton. There are many NewAge Hockey System core values projected accurately in Buffalos game(The Players know they are using the NHS) . No one knows how to stop them to my eye and I say next year they steamroll their Conference…I have 100$ on them making the SC Finals this year.
My favorite oiler right now is Desjardins I mean Elkholm is awesome but how does Desjardins not get played before this isn't he like 26 and makes less than 1/10 of nurse

Can’t we send Campbell down to bako for conditioning Stanton without putting him on waivers!

If Campbell was in net they would have lost 9-3.
Nice sweater David 😅

Stu plays like a veteran, soup plays like a nervous rookie.

I have never heard a hockey shift described as a platonic form manifest in the material world. 250 points Dave.
Well hopefully Campbell is better next year because that net has to be Stu's for the remainder of the year.
The Oilers have averaged 0.7 goals per game more with Campbell in net, which is why he's had better win / loss numbers with worse goaltending numbers.
Mark my words…. Skinner WILL be our Starting Goaltender next Season.
Love the podcast boys. Thank you.
Campbell would a let in 7 goals.

What a great pocast
Keep starting skinner. He’s bigger and plays better postionally . Campbell plays 1 game to skinners 4.
Great podcasts , one of the few with hockey intellect . 👍
Well time to ride Skinner into the post season.
Why are the Oilers not playing Kane/ they may need him at Boston ?
