Do we classify this game as a defensive breakdown disaster, refs being unfair, the Oilers deciding they could basically take the 2nd and 3rd periods off against a team that is higher in the standings than they are or, I don't know, ALL OF THE ABOVE. This train wreck came after a great game in Boston. Skinner was not good. The team in front of him was just as bad if not worse. Ekholm worked. Bouch worked (better than he used to pre-Ekholm). The ONLY Oiler to be above 0 in +/- is Connor at +1 which is REALLY REALLY BAD. Hope you enjoyed the enhanced stats. It takes time to do these and have it work in Google Chrome on Youtube. No clue about other browsers. Again I am not in the Cult of Hockey's stats league. They have much more detailed information than I post but it gives you an idea of what occurred (the steaming pile of it).

There are 1,123 players in the NHL, 1,122 of them can push Yamamoto off the puck! Yamo, Shore, Ryan, and Janmark are all virtually the same player…Kostin brings an entirely different dimension, are you sure one of those other guy's couldn't come out?

Ugly coaching lost us the game…as soon as McLeod made that turnover momentum swung…woodcroft needs to take a time out once in awhile to slow things down…and whete the hell is kostin?
Here it is once again fellas……Woody needs some more help….If I could parse all of the Oilers core value weaknesses into one single game this is it ,if you want to know why they did not bring home the Cup last year here is the reason, if you want to know why they will not bring the Cup home this year ,rewatch this game and write down every question that pops into your head as things begin to manifest……and finally if the Oilers want to win the Cup then THEY need to understand that Moma2 says there is a Model of Regression that can be built from which they may look to solve their issues ASAP….but you cant fix what you cant see.

The one thing I notice about these pods is that when Oilers loose a game the refs are mentioned within the first 10 minutes. Fact is every night, every team has an issue with the refs. There is no advantage, over time all teams are equally affected. Leave conspiracy theories for twitter.
Kostin needs to be inserted back in….Yamo needs to be removed from top six(replace by Kostin) Holloway needs to be called up and given an opportunity to take a spot. Bench McLeod and Cece for a game.
If you thought you going to come into Toronto and beat the Leaf's after the beat down you put in us in Edmonton a couple weeks ago you were sadly mistaken. Darnell Nurse gets exposed. Don't get me wrong both teams have flaws tonight you were due to give some respect back to Toronto.

Refs aren’t your problem! Oiler’s have the best player in the league, put not the best team.
Leaf fan here. I am a fan of the Oil when the Leafs aren't playing. The Leafs played like the Oilers from 16/17 to 20/21, then they realized careless, turnover laden hockey, from trying to force passes etc. doesn't work in the post-season & they evolved. They went 15-1-1 in Nov with 4 veteran D out of the line-up for quite a while. They played team D, everyone coming back, limiting time & space to opponents with attention to detail. That was the game Edmonton played to beat Boston IN Boston. Against the Leafs, guys were flying the D-zone cheating for offence & it cost them. Murray let in 2 weak goals on an overplay with poor recovery (Kane wrap-around) & a weird misplay on a PP one-timer from Draisaitl that he didn't get all of, but that Murray bungled anyway. The McDavid goal (quick release) went through him & frankly he should've stopped that shot. The Leafs hit 3 goal posts & the crossbar, so with solid goalkeeping by Murray, it could've been 9-1 easily. The Oilers will also evolve & realize that if they don't play the game the "right way", they won't succeed. Ekholm & Bjugstad make you a better team. Period. Barrie was not a playoff warrior.
It is pathetic that a team with Mcdavid and Draisaitl is a wid card team. The Oilers should be a 1 or 2 seed in the Western Conference. It is a shame that boring no name teams like LA, Vegas and Seattle are ahead of them in the standings. Shameful….absolutely shameful.

lFor the Record Fellas just so we all understand the current State of Affairs…. We are seeing a distinct pattern of evidence that is now undeniable..the Oilers power up to 2-3-4 Goal leads,then the Refs manage the Game to even the score up( I happen to agree with the Refs continuing to excercise the right to call penalties that directly impact the flow and momentum of games even thought the masses likely disagree with that because it is a NECSESSARY CONTROL MECHANISM) as we all know happens in NHL Hockey like it or not and then the Opposition adjusts their System then Woody cannot figure out what they did fast enough to prevent a total implosion. Ever since the All-Star break "something (wink-wink-nudge-nudge) seems to have gotten into the water in Edmonton — there is a timeline of stats that show exactly when the Oilers left front tire began to lose air..Its not about Players or discipline or Coaches its about LACK OF Elite System Management processes. The Oilers are NOT reacting at NHL speeds and there is no Counter-Punch …they land combos setting up the KO that NEVER COMES. A surgical barrage then NO creativity …no reactivity System-wise…. we can whine and cry and bicker and watch the Oilers flounder and under-achieve or we can as Fans demand that Moma2 be brought in.There are only 2 options now looming in the near future…SUBTRACT SOMETHING OR ADD SOMETHING. If we dont ADD Moma2 we will soon be SUBTRACTING Coaches or Players who do not deserve to have to fall on their own Swords for the Cause..Its time to try something NewAge. Yes the Oilers will make the Playoffs but they are sputtering and misfiring in terrible ways…its like they are Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang . The Oilers build big solid leads because they have above average Analytical inputs(Secret Agent Paul Coffey) directly connected to their Pre-Game Plans….they come into games well prepared now. After that their below average REACTIVITY handicaps them.How do you bring that Premier level Analytical input as per the Pre-Game preperation to a live in-the-moment realtime 60 minute Game so the Oilers can reply to opponents adjustments ? A possible solution is the addition of Moma2 if you can drag the online NHL Hockey Guru out of retirement.
If McLeod doesn't do his brain fart, and Nurse knew how to corral a puck with his skates in case his stick gets lifted (something I learned as a kid playing pond hockey) then it's a different game. But even little mistakes count for a lot in the NHL.
