After they discuss the Hart Trophy Friedman says to Marek:
“The other thing too I am wondering, a year from now is Hellebuyck going to be the highest paid goalie in the NHL?”
Why did he start back to back games?
If his next contract is sub $10m/year I’m going to be shocked.
His workload will have to be managed as he ages but his abilities are based more on positioning than athletics and that should age well.
If we ever go back to a Pavelec style goalie we will be so fucked.
Without this guy the past 5 years we would have gone absolutely nowhere and people would be calling for Chevy and Chipmans head.
$10M is a bargain for Helly.
His plan better come with full back coverage

How much would you pay? He is our MVP so I have no problem with 10-10.5 mil.
I think a lot will depend on how the team performs until his contract is over. If it doesn’t look like it could happen here, I could see him deciding to try taking a better team to the cup, and you couldn’t blame him for persuing that goal. And getting a great paycheck wherever he is.
Chevy needs to sign Helle asap as soon as this season is over to signal what the plans are for the future
