  1. And then next year it's repeat, and the continuing denial of a proper rebuild.
How much longer will this old script continue?

  2. All of a sudden Patterson is way more positive? Give me a break , the Canucks could win the cup and this guy would still complain. Is this how Canadians think? Their world is constantly falling apart? What a horrible way to live Canadian hockey people .

  3. another disappointment from Allvin. Aidan is basically playing 1 year for an entry level deal instead of 3. Basically if he actually has a good year, they then cant afford to resign him. pathetic

  4. Andrei Kuzmenko is having an incredible year, and I want to take nothing away from that, but if we're comparing him to Pavel Bure, Pavel didn't have an elite, top line centre in their prime playing with him. Larionov was one of the best passers ever, but by that time, he was past his prime, and no disrespect to Cliff Ronning, Trevor Linden or Murray Craven, as good as they were, none of them were elite set up men.

Elias Pettersson, if I look at Canucks history, might be the best centre the Canucks have ever had. Boudrias, Gradin, Morrison and the guys I mentioned were all very good centres, but I don't think any of them quite matches Pettersson in terms of overall skill and passing ability in particular. Larionov is probably the closest, but again, by the time he joined the Canucks, he was past his prime, even though he had some really solid years, even into his 40s.

Pavel could just do things with the puck on his own that few other players in NHL history could do. All at full speed. If he decided he was going to score on his own, as a 5'10 guy, there really wasn't much anyone could do about it. He was also incredibly gritty and tough in his early years. Just ask Shane Churla. He had Gino, but very often, he was pretty good at sticking up for himself – again, in the early days. Once he got the big contract, and then the organization continued to disrespect him, I got the sense that he wasn't willing to be that gritty winger anymore. He was also excellent at both ends of the ice up until about 1995-96, I thought. I don't think the big injury helped, either.

But as good as Kuzmenko is, he's not Pavel Bure and if there are doubters, do a YouTube search after this video and look at some of the highlights. He made hall of fame defensemen and goaltenders look like minor leaguers. He was pretty much money once he got a breakaway. Ovechkin might be the closest comparable, but OV is 6'3 or 6'4 and 230 or 240 pounds. Bure was 5'10 185 and played a heavy game until he got the first injury.

  5. The Canucks are playing the stars to death in the easiest part of their season schedule. They're playing a lot of home games against teams playing 3 games in 4 nights (something I'd like nobody to ever play because it doesn't make for the best hockey). Their next home game is another team (Dallas) in the middle of playing 3 games in 4 nights. It's hard to properly evaluate Canucks players right now, with the stars playing the lion share of the ice time. They need to even out the ice time a bit more so they can evaluate the players they want for next season who aren't named: Demko, Pettersson, Hughes, and Miller.

  6. They should trade there first rd pick to with maybe a bad contract along with it for a depth player looks like not rebuilding 😃

  7. The fact that anyone believes the Canucks are still trying to be Stanley cup contenders is laughable. Owner only cares about turning profit that he won't allow a rebuild since attendance would drop for 2-4 years. He'd rather a team that competes for the 7-12 spot every year and the odd time sneaking into playoffs so team turns profit.

  8. Points aren't everything. Bure's impact was far greater as he instantly became the Canucks best player and helped this franchise to multiple playoff berths and a cup final. Kuz is fun and very talented but he's probably the 5th best player on a non playoff team.

  9. The farm team is not for hoarding 30 year olds🙅‍♂️let the kids play and see who surprises 💁‍♂️

  10. Been waiting to see McDonough in a Canucks uniform for awhile now. It's always exiting to see younger players come up into the system.

  11. When they signed McDonough, they made an instagram post and they had him listed as a Center on that post. I’m thinking he slots in where Dries is.
