  1. Mackinnon changed to a defense first player, especially in last years playoffs, he wasn’t staying on the ice for a long shift for the fast break opportunities. I just think the regular season isn’t important for him, everything changes when the playoffs start.

  2. MacK is one of the most incredible offensive and defensive forwards I've ever seen. Dude plays defense with the same speed and aggression that he does with offense

  3. This is why PPG is a better stat.

I agree the absolute amount of 100 would be cool to see him achieve, but the amount of points he does get relative to the amount of games he plays in is impressive enough.

He will get there. In fact, he’s technically on pace to get there this season. Stay tuned.

  4. I feel Nathan is like Panarin. I feel he passes a lot more than shooting and you see it from his stats. 1:18 is where his stats are.

  5. If he stayed healthy he would've had 100 points like 4 of 5 times by now. He can still hit it this season too

  6. Love the hot mic in winter classic when Ptrangelo can be heard going "uh oh" when Nate was roaring into the offensive zone. Really though, this is such a great time for hockey talking about who is the best between nate and Connor…. without even mentioning the litney of studs on other teams

  7. MacKinnon is the guy that can do everything. He won't put up the goals and points of Matthews/McDavid. However, I've also seen him backcheck harder than just about any player in the NHL, including defensive forwards. I've seen him lay out big hits that you'd only expect from a big defenseman. I've seen him battle in the corners like a 4th line grinder. The guy is great at everything.

  8. Mack not getting 100 points people still think he's top 5 but when matthews doesnt get 100 hes washed and overrated???

  9. huh hes been known as the 2nd best player for years up until MAYBE the draisaitl emergence in the last year or 2

  10. Bro gets 90 points and has Bergeron level defense. And this guy like get a 100 you bum

  11. It’s very unfortunate that he can’t stay healthy or else he would have multiple 100 point seasons

  12. McDavid can have the rocket, the art ross, and the hart, still isn't a Stanley cup, and McDavid being a +10 with 127 points and Draisaitl a -3 with 98 means the oilers are giving up buckets of goals, and aren't likely to fair well in the playoffs again this year

  13. It makes you wonder if the values of the other aspects of a player's game were equally considered, where would MacKinnon rate? He's a two way player. How many of the top five have that going for them?

  14. Think of how many points he would have if he was more about himself then making sure his teammates with the best chance to score gets the puck, being more selfish

  15. Oilers fans should know just how dominate Mack is, Especially after last years spanking.

  16. "He Hasn't gotten 100 points. He's overpaid. He only has 40 goals 1 time" he doesn't give a fuck. He cares about helping his team win cups. He's got one thing McDavid Hasn't gotten yet or may or may not ever get and that's 1 cup so far. He may add some conn Smythes too who knows

  17. He rarely plays a full Season, look at games played, his PPG are pretty impressive

  18. I mean, he’s been on pace for 100 points for like the past 5 seasons, he just always misses like 10 games and in turn doesn’t get it.

But in reality that doesn’t matter, he’s over a ppg player in the regular season, an absolute beast in the playoffs, won a cup, and is one of the best players on one of the best teams in the nhl.

  19. Honestly, I doubt he or any of the other Avs players care about personal stats. They just want to win the Big One every year. And they are peaking at the exact proper time to go for it again.
Personal trophies are fine, but even McDavid would prefer that Silver Mug over all the other stuff.
Ovie was exstatic once he won the mug, that's the allure of the most beautiful trophy in sporting history.
    It's almost god like.
Even old grown men like me get all teary-eyed when I see that cup being hoisted by these warriors.

  20. Colorado has so many weapons as well making it harder and less necessary to have someone who has all the points

  21. He misses 15-20 games per season due to "injury" … aka Rest. It's all about the playoffs for him and the Avalanche.

  22. Mackinnon is a 40 goal scorer at best, and a 30 goal scorer on average, he won't be winning the Rocket Richard trophy anytime soon.

  23. if im in some alternate universe and am the GM of an NHL team and the league is doing a real deal fantasy draft, Nathan Mackinnon is my first pick

  24. 2nd overall? Really?

    Ovi, Matthews, Drai?

I think perhaps Mikinnon is the 2nd best during the playoffs. But not the rest of the season.

  25. This is my own theory.
I think that if he really wanted to solely focus on putting numbers up, he could hit around the 120 point mark. The one thing holding him back from hitting those numbers is that he's an insanely well rounded 2-way player. I truly believe that Mackinnon is a future Selke winner.

  26. Shame that MacKinnon can't stay healthy enough to have a MVP calibre season. He's easily capable of 120+ points if he could play a consistent 82 games.

  27. I will continue my campaign, regardless of the flak I get, that Mack is a more well rounded player than McDavid. That's not a slight on McDavid either. It's just that Mack has a fire that burns differently from McDavid, in a way that gets more out of everyone on the ice. Doesn't make the highlight reels as often but it wins championships

  28. He’s overrated as hell. He’s a great player and won a cup, but he’s not a top 10 player. Definitely not #2.

  29. I mean how many guys that get 100+ points each season have a cup? Points aren’t everything in the NHL

  30. Unlucky injuries and covid ravaged seasons have kept him from the breakout. Should get 100 points this year

  31. He's had some injuries which if he had a few more games he could break it… Might do it this year actually
