Great win by the lightning. Defense was solid, Vasi didn’t have to make many great saves. Hagel was incredible tonight and Kucherov scored a beautiful goal to wrap up an impressive 2nd period. The unfortunate news is the lightning have to play the devils again on Thursday, so New Jersey will be looking for revenge. If the lightning play like they did tonight on Thursday though, they have a good chance at another win.
Too bad this wasn't a contest about who hit the most posts. Also, that Graves goal shoulda counted. Not sure it woulda made much of a difference, but that's a terrible call.
Game totally changed after that ticky tack BS goalie interference. So now all an opposing team needs to do is slightly push a player toward a goalie for that to be called.
Devils showed their true colors in this game. Now 25 games they’ve allowed 4+ goals. No chance against penguins. No chance against rangers. No chance against lightning. Islanders know how to play shutdown defense. Really just no place for them in round 2.
They’re a decent team, but they’re not built for playoff hockey. I never considered them a real threat for the cup. Hughes has to go through some suffering to learn what it truly takes. Maybe in 3 years they will be close, but timo meier contract will hurt.
Bummer of a loss. I imagine that the taken away goal was demoralizing as hell. May as well be a playoff series. I want back the Devils vs. Tampa rivalry. Devils have to get ready now for teams like Boston and Tampa. Do not wait for April. Assume the toughest possible opponent. Learn from this, brush it over and fight back this Thursday and this weekend for the Florida teams. I actually think it is cool that the Devils playing these teams over the next 6 days stretch.
