Shout out to the guy in the game thread who compared Mikkola to Marek Malik

  2. JagrsMullet90

Great win. Nice to see Kane do it himself on the PP, Vesey redemption tour is what’s up. Mika!

Side note, but Rasmus Sandin is amazing and the Leafs are dumb for letting him go. That’s how we will feel if/when Jonesy goes.

  3. elfinito77

Progress. Let up in 3rd was disappointing. Would have like an easy win for a change.

7/8 last points despite all the issues.

Kane was very noticeable all night. He actually even got back in the 2nd Caps goal and slowed them…but still wound up in 1v2 in the high slot. But I appreciated the d effort.

Top line looked great for 2 periods.

I really wish ESPN took NHL announcers more seriously. Might sound corny but hockey might be a sport that’s most impacted by the announcers because there’s just so much constant action (basketball too to an extent)

When you go from guys like Gary Thorne to Doc Emerick to guys like Sean McDonough/Steve Levi it’s a massive drop in quality and a poor reflection of the sport. I don’t even hate the announcers I know they’re trying but it’s just not enough, you can tell they’re football guys. ESPN really needs to take this shit seriously and try to find that next legacy announcer.

Games like this make me miss MSG network games so much. Sam and joe are honestly a big part of what makes watching the rangers so fun. It’s night and day and it literally adds to the viewing experience.

The 1st was 🔥. The 2nd was solid and then the 3rd seemed like they ran out of gas a bit. Overall a good effort. I m hoping this carries over to Thursday. Loved the Garden went crazy for Igor’s assist and Kane’s PPG. These line combos seem nice and the 4th line is still doing their thing. On to Thursday. LGR!

  6. elvista1991

Gramma Green with the bare handed save 😂 the Disney broadcast was fun. My kids really enjoyed it. Great win!

  7. guccikline

They looked the best they have since the deadline but they still seem to take one period off every game. Usually its early but tonight was the 3rd, all signs pointing up tho. Till the next 2, FUCK THE PENS

  8. dcgirl98

Forgot to mention that Igor made some really fantastic saves tonight.

  9. Ok_Mud_3985

This was a reassuring performance after a slightly concerning stretch. I’d be happy if this was how we played WITH lindgren let alone without.

  10. pizza_nightmare

Towards the end of the game the camera cut twice to Panarin and Tarasenko sitting on the bench. Panarin was laughing and smiling a lot — I would love to know what Tarasenko was saying to him. They were probably speaking Russian too, right?

  11. VALIS666

Looked *insanely* good at first, Rangers let their foot off the gas a bit, Caps picked it up. But still normal hockey game shit, nothing that’s worth stress. The Caps just beat the red hot Islanders 5-1 the other night.

Kane is seeming more and more comfortable. The lines are gelling. Now Fox just needs to get his head out of his ass. I guess tonight he was a little better than recent. 🤷‍♂️

  12. funkingrizzly

2 full 3 period efforts against Pittsburg would be great, with them losing tonight we could leave them in the dust potentially with 2 wins….

  13. BarmyDevonian

Much better skating effort tonight. Looked shaky in the 3rd when the Caps made their push and Shesty came up huge.

Lack of discipline covering the slot and taking penalties continues to be an issue. 2 holding, 1 tripping, and a hook. Gotta clean that up before the playoffs.

Splitting up Panarin & Kane has helped both. The top 2 lines both were buzzing all game. Kane was a real difference maker tonight.

Would be nice to get Lindgren back soon, but I’d rather he be fully healthy for the playoffs than now at this point. In a way I feel like his absence has finally forced the coaching staff to come up with an action plan to try to cope without him. Mikkola had a rough night tonight, but he at the very least has looked serviceable next to Foxy the past few games.

2 big games against the Pens coming up. Would love to get the chasing pack back on their heels. No interest in watching them in the playoffs.

  14. classic2222

Played so much better tonight. Still had to sweat it out, but they’re trending in the right direction.

  15. Druncle_Vargas

Refs on the caps payroll without Ovi ? Duh.

  16. Druncle_Vargas

Steve Levy can suck a fat cock. “Ohhh the garden gets a little quiet!”
“Rangers only looking this good on their pk probably due to the fact that Ovi isn’t here! What do you think, Mess?”
And then the messiah gives a proper, non biased, professional response.

  17. bobo377

Jimmy Vesey is him. I swear every time we win I’m going to post something positive about him I these game threads. Can’t wait to do it 16 times in the playoffs.

  18. Mp930Ze8

Who has a gif of Igor throwing that stick over the net after he got wacked in the crotch?

  19. greysfordays

this game reignited my stoke for this team. wasn’t a perfect game by any means, but hope runs through my veins yet again

  20. Key-Tip-7521

After a good 3rd period in Sunday’s ot loss, that effort showed tonight for a good 60 minutes. That was Ranger hockey. In the words of our guy(s) Bill Pidto: « No Cap, No Kizzy! » (w/a wild Vally or John in the background) « Yeah. » Mika March continues. With not one but TWO goals. From beautiful apples from Vova, and Bread. Panarin maybe known as the « Breadman », but tonight, he added a side of apples tonight. Igor’s pass that led to Mika’s second goal.. Ohhhhh Baby! That’s was something. Plus I liked the team’s response to giving up the Aube-Kubel’s goal. Patrick(My Name’s Not Rick) Kane got his first goal at the Garden. Patrick Kane…. It’s a Power Play Goal! » [https://media.tenor.com/Gjc3gBY-n2kAAAAC/patrickkane-showtime.gif](https://media.tenor.com/Gjc3gBY-n2kAAAAC/patrickkane-showtime.gif) and obviously this one too, [https://youtu.be/YTcZ9THPX1E](https://youtu.be/YTcZ9THPX1E)). Captain Troubs w a nice beauty goal w/an apple from Patrick. Jimmy « the born survivor » Vesey w/a slick snipe on an empty net sealed the win.

Now, besides the goals the Rangers scored this game, performance wise, a good-brilliant one. Not great though. But much better than the last few games (excluding the 3rd period on Sun [which was really good]). The Yute line despite not scoring, they cycled the puck alot tonight. Which I appreciated. Mess said it best about Kakko, he should drive to the net more often with his size. If the Yute line can get a goal from that hard work in future games, a third line that could do that, plus a 4th line that is truly a really good 4th line can do their job, I have faith going forward. That 4th line was able to be out there late in the game to play shut down hockey. Which is HUGE come playoff time.

Defensively, a little better. The goals they gave up were off screens and off the end of a Capital power play. Miikola oof man. STOP TAKING DUMB PENALTIES BRO. Luckly, the Rangers penalty kill was excellent. However I’d and among every fan here, would appreciate it if this team stay disciplined against better teams going forward.

Rangers played well when the Capitals had their mojo going in the 3rd. They(NYR) were able push back the Capitals waves and eventually got that insurance empty netter. Do that more often, they can make us(fans) and themselves breath easy. Igor was Igor tonight. I have faith in him.

Overall, the Rangers win! A 60 minute performance. After seeing Patrick’s comments about the first, [https://twitter.com/vzmercogliano/status/1635827842427637760?s=20;](https://twitter.com/vzmercogliano/status/1635827842427637760?s=20😉 if the Rangers can play like the way they did in the first and play in a controlling way, they can do things. Rangers win! Got the 2 points on ESPN and what looked like the (throwback time) Backyard Hockey computer game on Disney. 2 points in the bag, keep em’ and hang on to em’. And Mess did good/to okay in the booth. Those two were better than the other two guys.

Big win tonight! Onto… Ah Pittsburgh. Get ready for it people. Keep it going. God Save the King. Back afta dis.

Oh I forgot, the greatest thing seen in hockey history haha https://twitter.com/DaveyUpper/status/1635787836812083203?s=20

Srry if this long. Onto Pittsburgh

  21. alphaxion

I missed this game. I’m sorry… assist point to Shesty? Did somebody release him?!

  22. I’m just gonna keep telling myself that Igor is purposely letting teams close the gap so they’ll empty the net for him to shoot at

  23. Sjdillon10

I just want to tell y’all how much i love this sub. Specifically these threads. I’m watching the flames coyotes game. I checked their GDT in their subs. So inactive and slow. Ours you refresh and you’ve got 20 new comments. Love you all. These threads make games so much more enjoyable

  24. ice_nyne

At least people watching the Disney feed were spared the terrible sideboard advertising.

  25. GMProdigy-ChrisDrury

Team is finally looking like they are improving post deadline acquisitions

  26. BruisedBabyMeat

    it was a good night.

    rangers win.

boston loses, who by the way look like shit post-deadline. they’re getting bounced in the first round, you heard it here first.

  27. ShouniAishaKuma

Overall not a perfect game but I was very happy to see the boys pull their laces tight and score some nice goals + the W

We’re still lacking on defense with Lindy out – he really should have just gone on LTIR (from watching him after the Oshie hit his shoulder looked completely separated). I also think Mikkola is having a rough time on top pairing and that he doesn’t mesh well with Fox’s preferred style of play. He’ll probably be alright on the 3rd pairing though.

Really great game for Mika, Trocheck, Kane and Laffy.

All that said I’m still definitely concerned about coaching as the latter half of the game showed a big lack in discipline. We’re also still looking super pass happy and need to be driving net more / just shooting for rebounds with men in the slot/crease imo.

On to the next one – fuck the Pens LGR!

  28. Odd-Lie8521

Easily the best Kane has looked so far. Had the legs movin. Seemed a lot more comfortable with the puck. Even if he doesn’t stick with Troch I think Kreider is a great winger for him. Similar style player to Brandon Saad who Kane had a lot of success with. Better player than Saad ever was too

  29. As of this moment, the rangers would clinch a playoff spot no matter what if they can get 104 points, aka 18 points in their last 15 games. As long as they hit that mark, all of pens isles panthers and sabers could win every game the rest of the season, and we’d still at least make WC1. We could do it with 103 points if they have more regulation wins at the end than panthers or sabers (again assuming that those teams win every game the rest of the season). Obviously there’s no chance those teams all win out, so the actual number to clinch will end up being lower.

Today, the countdown is 18 points, but the number needed will be brought down as the teams in the hunt for a wild card inevitably lose some games.

Edit- Here’s the fastest way we can clinch: rangers win 5, fla and buff each lose 4 in regulation, ottawa lose 3 in regulation, caps and detroit each lose 2 in regulation. That would take us to 96 points and none of those teams could pass us.

  30. Maleficent-Comfort-2

I haven’t seen a single comment about Panarin giveaways, and looking at the stats on the NHL app, looks like he did less today. I’m happy for our bread man
