I didn’t know he had stepped away from hockey, and definitely didn’t know the cause, but I really hope he gets whatever he needs and does well, with hockey or without it.

I’ve been there. I went through some rough stuff quite a few years back with anxiety and depression as well, and just didn’t eat, I guess. It wasn’t intentional, and I didn’t even realize how bad it was until I weighed myself one day and saw that I was somewhere in the range of 95lbs, first time I had been that low since early high school, probably.

I know a lot of people think that commenting on someone’s weight is safe as long as it’s a comment about how much they’ve lost, but it’s actually not. I recently had surgery to have a massive (benign) tumor ridden organ removed, and a coworker keeps telling me how good I look. I know she’s thinks it’s a compliment, but it isn’t. I wasn’t trying to lose weight, and only did so because I had to have a surgery that I still feel like shit from to this day.

I wish he never had to go through what he did, and I hope it gets better for him.
