    From the article:

“Are the Flames burnt out or can they be reignited? It depends on whether Calgary can finally take advantage of its opportunities, and if the sliding Jets will open the door to a team knocking them out of a wild-card spot. Both are big asks at this point, especially with the Flames missing a spark at the top of their lineup. Jonathan Huberdeau’s faded in Calgary, and while he’s picked it up recently, Jacob Markstrom’s level hasn’t been where the team needs it to be, either. Was last year’s inspiring recipe changed too much? Would another powerful ingredient help? Or does a new chef need to come in and put their own spin on what’s already here?”

Lindholm is also listed as falling short of being considered an “elite” center

If you’re gonna pay a dude 10 mil you need him to be putting up like 60-80+ points per season regardless of how good or bad the team is. If he can’t do that then he’s probably not elite.

Truly elite players will put up points even on bad teams. There are teams below us in the standings with multiple 30+ goal scorers, our highest scorer is like 26 goals right now and next highest has 21…

Neither of them are lindholm or huberdeau

I think the answer to this one is chemistry. On paper this team looked super competitive last summer

Could be Sutter. Could be that we have a random group of super high paid guys who don’t gel and/or inspire the lower paid players to rally around them. Could be that we need a new arena LOL. 🤷‍♂️ been a hard season to watch with so much up and down

    Also better goaltending would help

Need a coach that works better with our types of players. I love Sutter but his system clearly doesn’t work.

Oh, and lose Lucic (makes me sad to say that, but it’s true).

Hot take, but I just think the whole team is suffering from major overthinking and gripping stick too tight. We’ve seen proof that these guys can perform, but collectively as a team they aren’t. Too me that’s just a getting in your own head issue. Maybe I’m wrong.

I can write a much better article using AI too… here is ChatGPT’s take.

Consistency is definitely key, and the Flames have shown in the past that they are capable of bouncing back from a rough patch. It’s important to stay positive and have faith in the team, especially during these challenging times.

The NHL is a highly competitive league, and every team faces its fair share of ups and downs. The Flames are no exception. However, it’s important to keep in mind that they have the talent and the heart to turn things around and compete at the highest level.

With the right mindset and a bit of luck, the Flames can win the key games they need to get back on track. They have proven in the past that they are capable of playing at an elite level and making deep playoff runs. We should focus on their strengths and support them through these tough times.

So let’s keep our heads up and stay positive. The Flames have what it takes to compete with the best in the NHL, and with a little bit of hard work and determination, they can overcome any obstacle. We believe in them, and we know that they have the potential to come out on top.

this has been the flames’ problem basically since 2006.
Even Gaudreau had a hard time against elite teams.
