Je viens de me rappeler à quel point le conseil d’administration était décentré chez Barclays. Tous ceux qui sont allés chez Barclays, comment c’était ?

Had season tickets for all the Barclay’s years. People were way more pissed off about it on the internet than it warranted.

As bad as you think.
Mdesarmo
Siting close was awesome. Barclays is a beautiful arena, just not for hockey and bad to get to.
iceman39
It was brutal. However a good memory was seeing McDavid in person for the first time there.

Barclays is good for 2 things and 2 things only. Easily accessible via the subway and the amenities.
Watching a game there sucks, whether it was the Islanders and the obviously Nets still today. There’s just no true life in the building. The all dark color scheme just makes everything so depressing and I feel like it takes away from the atmosphere. Yes, it definitely blends in with Brooklyn and fits with the outside (which definitely looks nice), but they could’ve lightened it up a bit.
Then the sight lines for hockey were obviously terrible, and for every event in the arena, you can’t sit in the 200s unless it’s the 1st row. You’re so far away from the action and you’ll probably trip going up/down the insanely steep stairs (it’s the steepest upper deck in the U.S. at an angle of 36 degrees).

As someone who lives in Brooklyn it was fucking great, you could buy < $10 tickets on stubhub and you could often just sneak down into lower level seats because they didn’t give a flying fuck.
But it had zero character and UBS is exponentially better.
No-Ambassador-71
The seats were so close together that I couldn’t wear boots there because I couldn’t walk properly across rows.

Parking is non existent and the food was good
pasqualevincenzo
You just knew the place is meant for basketball ball when you were in there. And the car right behind the glass lmao
DrowsyPenguin
Sat a few rows back over the the goalie on the side with the missing lower section. Once play came past the hash marks, you had to look up at the board to see what was happening [right below](https://imgur.com/a/njN9hg5).

The whole arena is garbage
ArtyThePoopie
remember what it was like having great food options for a pregame meal?
ToweringIsle27
Very oddly shaped place. You could sit in five different parts of the same upper corner section and have five distinctly different sight lines, some with weird obstructions. The upper bowl was too steep, and the lower bowl too shallow, designed to optimize people’s view of a sport played in the air (basketball), but not one played at the feet. The middle level was the sweet spot, with seats that hung closely over the ice and gave a fantastic view for the price.
Apart from that, it felt like being engulfed in darkness and was a very quiet place. When I watched a game there with my Rags friend, we agreed that it felt like an away game for both teams. It just didn’t feel like home, at all. No complaints about the concourse or arena location though. The area around it was a lot of fun.
mitchdaman52
It was what hockey wasn’t meant to be.
BeardedPuffin
I hated Barclays for hockey. Seating is too vertical. Cheap seats felt like camping on the side of Mt Everest.
the_fundertaker
It actually didn’t matter
VinPickles
As a brooklyn born isles fan i loved it
Jorstin17
I could actually afford to get good seats
Riseonfire
Only positives were if you lived nearby, and all the bars/restaurants you can walk to before the game. I missed walking to the game or taking the 2/3, but that’s it.
liguy181
I went to Barclays once and I honestly don’t remember the scoreboard being that bad
I had a generally good time at that game, and I loved the way it was right on top of Atlantic Terminal and surrounded by so much stuff to do, but I’m not gonna pretend the in-game experience was anywhere close to the coliseum or UBS. The idea of the Islanders being in the city (but still technically on Long Island) was cool, but it just wasn’t gonna work, especially in a building like Barclays
isles84
Didn’t really notice after a few drinks. I just remember fearing I would trip and fall from the upper seats
wikipuff
It was awful. The first month of me turning 21, I tried to buy a beer and they thought I was trying to buy it with an underage ID, it took her 10 minutes and me showing her different ways to prove I was over 21 for her to realize that I was infact 21. Security was in the middle of writing me up when she realized that. I had a long conversation with my ticket rep over the incident. The only good thing was that the cupholders came off easily and have a good sound to them.
aaronwe
was not a good stadium for hockey, the arena was off center, the left side of the stadium was like…cavernous, since it was made for concerts the fan sound was garbage.
It was just a bad place to play hockey.
fWARWhatIsItGoodFor
Bad as it is for hockey, it’s worse for concerts surprisingly and depressing as hell. That said, having a team in NYC in college with $10 tickets most of the time, it was glorious
stuplexer_
For as much flack as the Barclays got, it saved this franchise. If not for Barclays, the Islanders would be in Kansas City now.
Also, that building got loud when the occasion called for it. That series against Florida is proof of that. It doesn’t matter where the building is or how shitty some of the views are. It’s the people that make the atmosphere, and that’s been consistent from the Coliseum to Barclays to UBS
forgotmyusernamedamm
Growing up in Canada, the idea of seeing a professional hockey game that cheap was bonkers. I’ve been to OHL games that were twice what we were paying to get in. I started cheering for the Islanders and really learning about the team because nothing is better than live hockey, and once you learned where to sit, it wasn’t THAT bad.
I’m amazed a the hate for Barclay, because without it we’d be cheering for the Quebec Islanders right now.
ballscaster
I had no problem with it since I never sat in obstructed seats.
Islanders fans who never went to Barclays, why didn’t your mom give you train fare to go to the game?
priester85
The obstructed view seats at the end of the rink was a much bigger deal that the off-centre scoreboard, which was an oddity to be sure but didn’t really affect much
-PatrickBateman
You could almost forget about it until every single time you looked at it.

Barclays hate was overblown. It wasn’t a good arena for hockey, but I just avoided the obstructed sections and had a great time whenever I went. Excellent location.
