The Hawks won the game 6-4, but that was beside the point. The Hawks and Blues had played a rough game the night before, and Blues coach Brian Sutter had sent goons out on a “line change” during a scrum. The blues had a 7-4 advantage of men on the ice. The hawks won the game but were fuming. The night of the massacre, the first period was a mess of penalties and cheap shots. When Larmer got a major for high sticking in the second, a scrum ensued and hawks coach Mike Keenan made a “line change” and sent out enforcers Mike Peluso and Stu Grimsin on the ice the massacre was on. After a bit Dave Manson and Scott Steven’s decided to go at and skated to center ice.

It is an example of. Bygone era, I was there and the atmosphere was electric. The game didn’t end til after 11 PM. From a 7:30 start

I was there also. I’ll never forget the atmosphere and the crowd. You would have had to be there to appreciate it.

I listened to this game on the radio as a kid.

Forget the Wings, the Habs, the Canucks, etc etc

The St. Louis Blows will forever remain my most hated team in sports. (don’t even get me started on the 1993 playoffs)
