i think nurse is more suited to a second pairing role, i mean look at how he was when he was number one, he struggled most nights and could not handle the pressure, the unfortunate thing about all this is that he is paid like a number one stud dman, which he is not, he is good, but is lacking at what it takes to be a true number one. Not even Ekholm is a number one. Makar is who you pay that kind of money, not Nurse, i still think the league purposely over valued Nurse so that the Oilers would over pay.
It never did make sense to run nurse ragged in ice time.
Imo Cece and Kulak have not really earned their ice time. You could say that too about Bouchard but Ekholm has been his Saviour. Vinny deserves a regular shift. Imo Cece and Kulak should be sharing ice time. Broberg should be given opportunity too! Bouchard should only get OZone starts and pp…..We cannot have him taking Dzone starts and PK time. Imo winning and losing will solely depend on how well the Dmen are utilized by the coach!…

Although Nurse and Ceci had less time against Dallas then Ekholm and Bouchard, Nurse and Ceci still played the vast majority of the time against elite opposition. Ekholm and Bouchard played most of their minutes against more of Dallas' depth players. Not sure where I saw the stat, maybe the Cult of Hockey player grades for the game. Either way, it is still good to see Ekholm and Bouchard are playing well and taking some of the load off of Nurse and Ceci.

Nurse and Ceci played almost exclusively against the Dallas 1st line last night……did you notice that 1st line? I sure didn't. Cause Nurse and Ceci shut them down. The shot share and deep analytics show that Nurse/Ceci dominated in every facet of that match up.

Bouch/Ekholm didn't play more cause they "deserved it" over Nurse/Ceci….they played more cause they didn't play against the Dallas top line.

Ekholm arrival has been beneficial to the play of Nurse/Cece by reducing their icetime which is a positive thing for Nurse/Cece. in no way is this punishing that pair.

I got no issue with Ceci, he is a solid 4th dman and knows his role. Nurse on the other hand has been a huge disappointment this season. How many give aways and stupid penalties he has taken this season. He is getting paid a mint and he needs to be better Glad to see Ekholm and Bouchard gel nicely. Glad to see Woodcroft send a message now before the playoffs.

Nurse has never been a top pair D-man, but they had no one else, and now he has a ridiculous contract, so he's in a tough spot. Maybe they even out the minutes of the top 4. Eckholm's presence has taken lot of pressure off Nurse. Commitee approach to the D core overall may be the way to go. Be helpful if a lot of the forwards would work harder on their defensive play to help them out.
