[Koshan] Keefe ne voit pas assez de Nylander en ce moment. « Il y a beaucoup plus de périmètre, beaucoup plus pour se débarrasser de la rondelle.

Perfect timing for this. Light a fire under him going into the Playoffs.

If there’s one particular player you can point to and say that Keefe has done a great job of developing and managing, it’s Nylander.

  2. Volderon90

Our boy is a beast in the playoffs. Always shows up

  3. Evening_Calm

    Full tweet reads:

    >Keefe not seeing enough from Nylander right now. « There’s a lot more perimeter, a lot more getting rid of the puck. I want him to hang on to it. I want him to challenge. I want him to be on the attack. I want to see lots of pace. That’s when he’s at his best. »

    Goes on to say:

    >Keefe on putting Nylander with Lafferty and McMann: « Playing him more with guys who are going to skate and move their feet, he that he can be the guy that really drives things. That’s really the idea. »

If we can continue to thrive with Matthews centering Jarnkrok and Kerfoot, a 3rd line with a healthy ROR and Willy could be MASSIVE in the playoffs.

  5. CommanderTouchdown

Ohhh fuck off. Stop playing him with Lafferty then dude.

Every fucking year we get the spring shuffle and Willy ends up on the third line playing with Kampf or Kerfoot and now Lafferty and Sheldon gets his digs in.

Would be something if he ever came close to talking about Marner in this way.

  6. alphacheese

It’s nice to see Twitter not overreacting too much. It’s well known that Willy has asked to be pushed and challenged in such ways. Different players require different methods of “criticism”. Having a career year under Keefe, realistically a non story. Willy almost is the perfect player/type of demeanour for this market lol

  7. ElephantShell34

Tf is he supposed to do playing on Sam Lafferty’s wing lmao.

Willy is good but he’s not “carry Sam Lafferty” good.

  8. CamThompson

Honestly, fair. It’s been a quiet couple games from Willy and it’s been well-established that he appreciates this approach from Keefe.

All star players are different, and Willy’s said in the past responds well to « demotions » and likes that he gets pushed in this specific way.

  9. ToasterRouble

Held to a higher standard to any other star player, as usual

  10. thedistrict33

Do your thing Keefe. As long as we keep winning idgaf who plays where

  11. winonateach

Has he watched Holl lately? Why does that pylon keep getting rolled out?

  12. Fullgrown_dirtbag

Imagine if Matthews can maintain production with kerf and jarnkrok.
    We could run:
    Kerf-34-jarny
    Bunt-JT-Mitch
    McMann/knies-ROR-willy
    Kampf-acciary-Laff

That’s a deep ass forward group with scoring threats and good defense from all 4 lines

  13. AustichMavarlander

I cant with this guy sometimes… Willy has been one of the most consistent players and may crack 40… but hell stroke off and put trashbags on first line while publicly calling out Willy any chance he can. I get Willy doesnt give a fuck about any of that guy seems like the type thay definitley doesnt care..

  14. BarDownBoi

Nylander has been the most consistent player all year along with Marner. idk wtf Keefes issue with Nylander is. Nylander has been more consistent than Matthews, that being said Matthews may have been nursing an injury all year so maybe Keefe gives golden boy Matthews a break.

  15. sjsharks1997

Relax everybody, Nylander has asked for Keefe to put pressure on him like this at times. Might not get another chance for a while.

  16. Beans_ON_Toasttt

Chief Keefe out here employing the same methods my Dad did when he was my coach when I was like 10 years old…”I expect better from you, because I know you’re capable of it”

Then when we’d get home from practice Mom would be all “he’s just a kid, what the fuck is wrong with you, give him his fruit cup and Gatorade back”

Pro athletes: they’re just like us

  17. ZzzMe0wMe0w

Keefe not liking something = Willy, 3rd line you go, Bunts to 4th

    What a clown.

  18. Elegant-Tower2851

Lol ahler and 3-4th liner. Doesn’t get much worse than this

  19. noctisakashi

Being Swedish must be the only way the coach calls players out on this team. Win a round or you’re out dumb fk

  20. Reggae4Triceratops

    Perimylander? Soon to be Slotylander!

  21. StockWillingness2748

I get it. Nylander often skates in and stays to the perimeter if he doesn’t have a line to the net. Usually he does his cut back, and dumps the puck by the hash marks. Keefe isn’t wrong, but it’s also been how he’s played for years. Generally if he doesn’t have a partner with him, or a line to the net he does this. I can understand how it’s annoying as it often leads to giving the puck away. But what’s his options? If no other line mates are with him and he’s up against 2+ opponents, what’s he supposed to do?

  22. BrickedUp24-7

Maybe dont stick him on the third line and cut his minutes ?? Fuck i hate keefe cant leave a fucking line up together for more than 25 minutes

  23. howsshegoin

kerfy has been outplaying him by far for weeks now and keefe is right to point this out

  24. Crafty-Departure1919

He’s already messed with the head (and thus play) of one of our best D this year with healthy scratching and public comments, why not double down and screw with teams 2nd best forward all year too?
Jfc Keefe, shut up and be better!

  25. areu_kiddingme

A lot of people in these comments are clueless lol. I know exactly what Keefes talking about, Nylander has just as much skill, speed and smarts as any of the league’s top guys but the difference between him and let’s say a Nate Mack is consistent ruthlessness, fearlessness and drive. It’s what Willie has lacked in the past. It’s what has made him a beast -at times- this season (the goals like the not so long ago OT winner where he fearlessly drove to the net on his own) and if he found a way to bring that every single shift, every single night…he could clearly be a welllll above point per game player.

Same people complaining about this are probably the ones who have complained that the players on this team are too soft or complained that keefe didn’t do enough to push his guys. This is how you push your guys and this is what hardens guys. Y’all couch potatoesque armchair coaches need to stfu, Nylander isn’t gonna cry and buckle like you would.

  26. Current-Own

Willie just loses his focus every now and then. The fact that Keefe has gone public with it, is his way of getting Willie’s attention. He’ll be fine.
