I take back everything I said

  2. Ketachloride

I’m feeling pretty good about the playoffs at this point. Yeah it’s going to be tough, but I can see us going at least to the conference final if not the final

  3. MarsHotelSouth

Lmao I just glanced in the Canes sub, curious what they thought about the game, and saw someone say “Rangers and devils reaping the benefits of being garbage forever and reaping multiple top 3 draft picks”

As if we haven’t made the playoffs 10x out of the last 14 seasons (I’m including this current one). Extremely different than fuckin perpetually tanking NJ who MISSED the playoffs 10x in the same time frame. Not sure if they actually don’t know what they are talking about over there, or if this is just some extreme coping 🤡

Anyways, great comeback W and if this team can play to full effort in the playoffs we will have zero problems. Not worried about Boston, Carolina, or anyone else if we can perform up to standards

  4. GMenNJ

So glad they were able to stick with it after that first period and turn things around. This team has had so many comeback wins this year. It’ll be great for the playoffs to have that no quit attitude just like they did last year

  5. Panarins cross ice pass worked…and fox finally scores.

    Can’t get better than this.

Need to shore up that pp. We got too much firepower to not be firing

  6. Proper-Rutabaga691

Ben Harpur just showed us why he’s such a major asset to the team bulling over Staal like that. Nobody else could take the guy down.

Tarasenko changed fast. already showered and back in a suit

  8. RhesusMonkey17

As a hockey fan, that was one of the best, most exciting, games of the year to watch.

As a Rangers fan, I really have no words. Playoff intensity all game. And once they figured out how to beat Carolina’s system, the Rangers looked like they can beat anything any team throws at them.

    Plus, Igor has returned!

See y’all Saturday. I’ll be there.

  9. Odd-Lie8521

Proud of them for gutting it out. Good teams find ways against good teams. Playoff atmosphere and they got it done. Gives me some confidence for the playoffs. First period was a disaster but Igor kept us in it. Igor is back and that’s all that matters right now.

    By my memory:

    – Trouba briefly went to the locker room
    – Mika looked a lil shaken up at the end (anyone else catch that?)
    – Trocheck almost had his ankle broken
    – chytil got his face cut by a literal skate blade

That’s playoff hockey baby. Also; I think we can afford to start to bubble wrap some guys here.

Rangers with another strong win tonight. I may lose in the first round of my fantasy playoffs but my team getting hot at just the right time.

    What a win.

Holy fuck…how many holds and trips did the refs ignore in the last 2 mins…never mind the others throughout the game.

  16. qwertyaas

Love watching Tarasenko. He’s literally a tank out there.

  17. Fedbackster

Wow. Just finished watching the game. Gotta start better but what a game. Luckily Panarin remains an all world player, contrary to all the experts on here who keep saying he is the team’s biggest problem.

I will never understand the sheer amount of doom on this sub when the Rangers play a period like they did in the first. I glanced at the game thread to see if anyone was gonna ask if the canes goal was offside as it looked like a ranger went to the official at the blue line after the goal and instead I was met by some *high IQ takes* including but not limited to:

« i said last game we’d be swept by the canes in the playoffs »

« this game is already over before it began »

« this is not a team built for the playoffs »

« beating canes in 7 last year was a fluke »

Like, yeah, that was a pretty shit first period, probably one of the shittiest all season, but it was literally a 0-1 game for half of the entire game. Not even 4 minutes into the entire game and people were already signing off the team for the night after a single goal, lmao really? It’s almost as if this team hasn’t had a comeback win ever, or as if this team never came back from a 3-1 series, just reading some of those comments. Happens every single time they fall behind, be it 5 minutes in, 1 loss or 4 in a row.

This team got extremely bailed out by an *insane* goalie that’s figured out his end of the deal, and then eventually found a way to play smarter against a very aggressive and well skating team. Canes were doing some pretty fucked plays imo but with how refs are/have been, retaliating in any way is not an option and after all the frustration of watching like 4 rangers get sandwiched one after another, kinda glad they kept their cool and focused on the game instead. Eventually they responded more physically too imo.

Maybe you should take a break from hockey if you think this team is a joke. Or go watch some other team. LGR

the advantage of Turk’s coaching style is the natural ability of the players to adapt to different teams, rather than sticking to something that can be figured out and beaten. Need our power play back though

  20. Bornlastnight

Nice to see the boys can grind one out

  21. I knew Tarasenko was a talented player, but I didn’t realize what a tank he is. He can take the puck to the net.

  22. NoeyBalbonzers

Happy to get the win, but they seriously need to shoot the puck more. Glad Igor has been playing great

  23. dothingsunevercould

Anyone else going to be at the game on Saturday and down to mercilessly boo the ever loving shit out of Marc Staal the one time by some random luck he happens to find the puck on his stick?

  24. RhesusMonkey17

It was fun hearing chants of « Let’s go Kane » alternate with « Let’s go Rangers » from the obviously biased crowd at MSG South.

  25. hankepanke

So is the Bettor Half Hour guy jaaacked up on coke for every episode?

  26. ItsHeadbangerG

Carolina’s a hell of a team, they are smothering, and unforgiving, and have been a consistent pain in the Rangers collective asses for a few years now. They’re an opponent that commands respect as they’ll quickly show us why they deserve it.

But I’ll be goddamned if I don’t love it when we stick it to ’em. Kind of a shaky first 2 periods there, shot differential was dreadful all game and I noticed we spent a lot of time unable to get out of our own zone. Not to mention those nonexistent powerplays (how the fuck do you not capitalize on a 5 on 3). Despite being behind the 8-ball for quite a bit of this game, them boys managed to grind out two goals and a hard fought W.

Shesty continues to be an absolute force of nature, and is definitely a major reason why we won tonight. On to the next one.

    See ya Saturday.

  27. frontadmiral

My first in-person game. So fun.

Players who jumped out way more in-person: Laffy, Mikkola, Goodrow. All had some great plays and just were generally way more noticeable than on the broadcast.

  28. Pole420

My ass cheeks are finally starting to relax. What a game!

  29. lukelliot

Tro’s postgame interview was very interesting. He said that it wasn’t our skill that won the game, but playing simpler, smarter, and not giving up opportunities. It’s always a war of attrition with the Canes. It was the same in the playoffs last year until the last couple games when we blew the roof off.

  30. Key-Tip-7521

48 hours before tonight’s game, the Rangers played liked they were hit by a Hurricane(had to do it), the response in tonight’s game, quelling the storm and turn it into a light drizzle. If the result went the other direction, this probably would have been about the missed chances on the special teams. BUT my current mood is this…. [https://youtu.be/-L1tyIIvmiY](https://youtu.be/-L1tyIIvmiY)

Now, what you’ve been waiting for, the recap. The 1st period was all Canes. Their forechecking buzzing style looked like they could have knocked the Rangers out of the building. Wave after wave. Plus, the Rangers couldnt get into their(Canes) zone. Neutral zone play was eh. But what really got to me was the missed opportunity on the 5on3 pp. Rued chance. I must have said that ALOT during the season. While yes, the Canes Penalty kill is/was good tonight same as the Rangers Penalty Kill. Had the Rangers gave up one of those Canes Power Play’s, imo I think you could call the game there.

2nd Period, same thing. Until this happened… [https://twitter.com/RangersMSGN/status/1639060503820636160?s=20](https://twitter.com/RangersMSGN/status/1639060503820636160?s=20) Igor says nyet. I believe that was a save where it’s a « we’re not gonna lose this game/get us back into the game save. » Later, the Bread man scores again to equalize. I guess he « was a-hopin’ for Raleigh, so he can see his new baby tonight. » After that, the Rangers started looking like well, the Rangers. Come 3rd Period, like what Turk said, « it was an excellent period. » Truly was. Most notably, The Yute Line. Kakko made a nice pass to Laf(should have buried it). They forechecked, cycled the puck and worked their ass off. May not have scored, but efforts like that can lead to a goal. Then finally, ending a goal drought, Fox scores a sick GWG. « Foxy clean, Foxy smooth, Foxy scores! ». Rangers held on for dear life towards the end. Igor almost gave me a mini heart attack with the empty net attempt.

This game was truly a playoff like atmosphere game…… FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE COME TO OUR GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sounded more of Ranger fans). Trocheck got hit w/a Vova wrister, made a nice power move to the net, only to miss(I would have been pissed if they lost because on the 150, they should the former number 16[could have been bad juju]), and Igor making Igor saves. Same as Schnieder’s clearance in the 3rd period was big.

Overall, Rangers win! Found a way to win. Team wouldn’t back down. Maybe stole a win. But they really stole 2 points. Which they continue to need. HUGE WIN. Keep up the good work! Onto the Cats on Saturday. Don’t count the magic number of points yet. Focus on the next game! Onto the Cats. God Save the King. Back afta dis.

  31. elarobot

I didn’t notice it until like the 10x I watched it…but a pretty scummy and dirty hit from Aho late on Vladdy after he’d already drop passed to Zibby, just before Bread’s goal. He gets his arms up and he sticks his leg out. Coulda been a bad cross check or knee on knee if Vlad didn’t pick it up at the last second that Aho was coming after him for a late hit.

  32. jaypeedee1025

Underrated that after the goal GG thru the kid line in to get some position so there was not a quick strike back once the Kids dominated that next shift the Rangers took over for the rest of the game

  33. will122589

They won a road playoff game tonight and it shows this team can do this without scoring a bunch of goals. Strike when opportunity presents itself and hold the fort by playing good tough defense
