  1. Eddie, thanks for the conversation with Russell Morgan. In the end, I felt like I pretty much agreed with him on most everything. Your choosing to interview rather than go back and forth also was a worthy format-great job. And, in the end, I can say I'd love to be shocked by the Kings, but there's no way I'd judge them harshly if they had any problems in the first round or two of the playoffs. They've come so very far, and Blakey has built a new team far faster than I could've ever imagined. To argue who/whom might be the better choice on any given night doesn't even matter for me, at this point. Regarding the NHL/overall, ok, I feel the same as in 1971/'72 when I wished my neighbor friends that they go back to Boston and rot. Ya, the Bruins really do seem to be that great, but there's not a single player on their team that I could care less about…and same wishes for people from Mass. who squeeze their living out of California but pull for their old teams-go the hell home. I was glad to hear Russell's assessment of Quinton Byfield and felt a sudden hopefulness for his progression. I'm sorry I can't watch him play in person or cable, but I have no pity for Bally Sports-through Spectrum-demanding $41 dollars a month to watch games. Spectrum is already charging me $80 dollars a month just for internet-on a fixed/retirement income. In any case, you guys put on an excellent show and I found your opinions to be most interesting. Go Kings!

  2. I agree with Russell, I love Quick but he’s enemy number 1 right now. I also have to admit that Blake did a wonderful job on the holes he filled with trading Quick. Kings are loaded if they can stay healthy.

  3. Eddie, thanks for interviewing Russell Morgan of Hocky Royalty, whom I discovered a couple months ago. He and his pals, Joe Patarino & Rando, are also very good. I totally agree that Quick is the enemy as a goalie for Vegas. I want Quickie to lose every game for them because I want the Kings to overtake them for 1st place. When he retires, I will love him again. And Copley has been even better after we got Korpisalo, from .899 to .940-ish for save percentage. We shall see who keeps up their great play in net.

  4. The one thing I've learned with analytics is don't take an overall assessment based on season totals.

During 2012 analysts had matched up yearly totals. Back then websites didn't post corsi, and certainly didn't post it in batches. They would just take the season totals and post them before the playoffs per where each team finished the season.

I matched up the final quarter (21 games). Had to do it all on my own to figure out all the teams goal differentials just for that quarter.

Nobody gave LA a chance and thought i was crazy. I learned then that nobody was looking at how the team was playing at that moment based on a season total that had huge losing streaks and they had fired their coach earlier in the season.

Kings were an 8th seed, but that final quarter they were the best team in the league heading into the playoffs.
