I would blame coaching for not recognizing our goaltending issues and adapting our system around it. Defense and goalies are a lot to blame about
Goalies are supposed to be the last line of defense for a team not the entirety of it. Don't blame the goalies for the teams total lack of any physical or defensive play man.

Most of the weight falls on our system and lack of veteran defense. We have a very young defense core. Goalies yes sure but not at 100%. Our PK sucks and defensive breakdowns allow breakaways a few times a game.
Cannot just blame it on the goaltending. Defensively we are terrible.
The goalies aren't the ones who are not scoring, not hitting, not forechecking and not skatng hard every shift. The Mr. Softee trucks in WNY should plaster there trucks with the team logo in honor of the softest team in the NHL! what a bunch of wusses
Yeah Joe, the season is over for the sabres. Come and join the red wings to sit in the same couch. Each team had different paths that lead to the same result even though you think the sabres are good and the red wings are bad. Good and bad are not absolutes.
Ultimately it's the fault of the owner for handcuffing the GM into not being able to acquire a proper #1 goalie.
To play the "fearless" way, you can't be scared that 12% of the shots on goal, should you mess up, will go in. So, yeah, D is bad, but it's related to playing in reaction to the low probability of some good saves. We were a bellcow goalie away from making the playoffs.
It's so sad & pathetic that the team was closer than ever to making the playoffs for 1st timesince 2011, especially this late in season. Then to see how shitty they played with playoffs on the line is such a disgrace. This team should be absolutely ashamed. A chance for playoffs and your D plus goalies decide to play their worse hockey of the season. DISGUSTING UNACCEPTABLE!!!!
Upl had a some games this year where he stood on his head and looked incredible. I agree he cannot be the guy for next year. But I think the move is to put him in Rochester and let him be the guy down there and I think he’ll flourish.

Blaming goalies is a bit premature. A goaler can't stop what you can't defend. Bottom 3 D either didn't play well enough or showed they aren't NHL caliber, though I believe Boosh was playing injured since his hit in EDM.
In baseball you never get hurt, in hockey you never want to see your 10 million dollar guy blow out a knee in some international event! Baseball is lame, haven’t watch it in 20 years.
Dont just blame the goaltending as the bigger issue is the D structure which is BRUTAL and has been all season long! Giving up way too many odd man rushes and breakaways ! Also this team is WAY TOO SOFT in front of both nets and on the forecheck ! SOFT COACH + SOFT PRACTICES = SOFT TEAM! 😡😡
Marty Wilford needs to be replaced immediately! Also please trade Bryson and Jokiharju as they are terrible not to mention being too SOFT!
See if ex Sabres Jay Mckee would be interested in becoming an NHL assistant coach . Hes been a head coach in the OHL in Kitchener and Hamilton and he has had some success. Won the OHL championship last year. If hes not interested then please hire an EXPERIENCED D coach ,preferably one who has won a stanley cup. Speaking of assistant coaches , hopefully Mike Peca is up in Buffalo next season to help with the forwards

Joe it was 5-3 in the third va dallas with 10 to go before the stars landed another 5 burger and vs the preds it was 5-1 in the 2nd with 10 go thats the difference. Devils landed Vanacek while we wstch Ullmark leave last minute. Its time for the Sabres to Trade for Demko. Send oloffson and Joki for him. The bottom 3 of this teams D is Horrendous. Bryson and Clague belong in the minors. Stillman is a 7th Dmen at best. Sabres must sign 2 Defenseman this summer to tweek the D. Im looking at Matt Dumba and Scott Mayfield. Dumba to play with Power and Mayfield to play with Bush. Solidify the Defense and find a #1 goalie til Levi is ready
