Is Matthew Tkachuk a Top 5 Player In The NHL?
He doesn’t even play with Barkov tho…
Lmao its hilarious anyone ever thought huby and tkachuk were ever on the same level
We never should have made this deal. I was saying the whole time, the moment Johnny left and Matthew wanted to leave it was the perfect time to rebuild. There's a generational talent in Bedard in this year's draft. The Flames fans would have understood not trying to go for it again this year. Not gonna lie, I did not like the trade even though Huberdeau and Weegar are talented players. I was really hoping this was the year we could get someone really talented that we could build around. Just look at the more successful teams in recent history, the Penguins, Blackhawks, Lighting and Kings, these teams all built their teams around players they drafted.
We should have been stockpiling picks, any of the top 3 picks would be an amazing piece to build around. In the last 30 years, the Flames had one run to the cup final, what a joke.
Hub is a passer most of his point last year were assists. I said since the start of the season if they don't find a goals scorer they're doomed
I was sick the day the Flames lost Tkachuk. He should have been the next captain of the Flames. He was the heart and soul of the team.
Brad may have to make a coaching change in the offseason it could turn around for Calgary look at the Boston Bruins and that's if the ownership decide to keep Brad around after this season that's my opinion as an Oilers fan looking from the outside the flames should be a much better hockey team than they are right now
I felt like I was the only one supporting the Panthers on this deal lol
It’s coaching that’s causing this trade to look bad!!! Tell me differently most the players aren’t Sutter guys
What many failed to realize in the excitement of last year's movements for the Flames, was that both Huberdeau and Kadri had come off of EXTREME outlier years in terms of points. Going in to the 2021-22 season, Huberdeau was a 0.84 ppg player. In other words, an average 82 game season for him was 69 points. His 115 point season was a 70% increase in production from his established norm. This year he's at 0.7 ppg, so slightly less than his career average, but a lot more representative of what to expect from him, than his 115 point season. This is especially true since he does not have a centerman of Barkov's caliber to play with anymore. The same is true for Kadri. Same argument as above, but lower numbers (career ppg before 2021 was 0.64, 2021-22 was a 92% increase in production). Kadri this year is at 0.68 ppg, so he's actually above is career average if you take out 2021-22. So what's the point? Can an NHL player have a breakout year and establish much higher 'normal' production? Of course – Tage Thompson says 'hello'. HOWEVER – it almost never happens after a player passes their mid-20s. Case in point – Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is on track for a 100 point season which would be 66% over his normal production. But at 29 years old, it is very unlikely this is the new normal for him.
Hindsight is 20/20, but it shouldn’t be that surprising Tkachuk is producing. Good things happen when you drive the net, and that is Tkachuks game to a tee.
The trade had to be made. What is tragic is signing Huberdeau to a monster contract which is already looking terrible… and there's 8 more years at $10.5…ouch.
What do flames fans and critics say when tkchuck leaves for nothing. They would be so pissed. But they got 2 decent players and one of whom has not even played close to what he was before the trade. Ahem looking at you Johnny. And if huberdough was playing with gaudreau he would of had a better year to.
and tkachuk doesn't even play on a line with Barkov
No offense, but the attitude used in this video is so negative and not fun to watch
I was devastated when he said he was leaving. We should have kept him and given him the C.
Flames are a bad fit for Huberdeau. He needs to play with good players. Tkachuk can do it himself.
Good Hockey Player, Defective Personality.
You're fair to compare Tkachuk and Huberdau by examining points, but you can't factor in Weeger and expect it to be a fair argument. Weeger was never brought in to score goals. His primary role is to ensure the other team stops scoring. So while I do understand what you're saying, it's not fair to examine Weeger on the basis of points. That comparison is sound if done with a forward, but not with a defenceman.
I’m a flames fan and Johnny will never hit another 100 points. He’s a 60-80 point guy. King Matthews is way better than Johnny and huby. I’m sad that he’s not with the flames anymore.
