Detroit attempted to draft Bure in 1989, it was determined (by the NHL of all sources) Pavel had not played enough games (11) for eligibility for the NHL draft. One could imagine that 1989 Red Wings draft as maybe the best ever with Bure included.
Their 1989 still is very high on the all time greats list.

I think the major difference between Fantilli and Michkov is that Fantilli can make the roster next season, Michkov is 3 years away.
So is Detroit gonna be bad for another 3 seasons? If you draft michkov, you are pushing your window by 3 years, granted that you feel Mich would be very polished when he comes over.
Michkov is a perfect player for a team that wants a full rebuild for the next 3 seasons.
I'm with Evan, forget this play in nonsense. If teams want to get in the playoffs, just be better in the regular season, that is the sole reason for playing those 82 games. If you aren't good enough after the regular season then clearly you aren't a playoff team.
