  1. The "Exhibition Game in Hartford" thing strikes me as the same as when the Jays play(ed?) games in Montreal… it's almost too much of a tease.

I do think that the Hurricanes should be green/grey as their colours, simply because there's too darn many red / white / black teams in the league as it is.

  2. I'm convinced that the desire for the Whalers to return would be way lower if those jerseys weren't awesome.

  3. RHP/ 'Lavallagher' rules. One silver lining of being depleted by injuries is you get the chance for cool underdog stories

  4. Me as a Minnesota Wild fan: Woo first in the division!

Also me: Nervously checks the standings to make sure Chicago and St. Louis are still out of the playoffs.

  5. RHP Harvey-Pinard is really a 'cerebral' player. I'm sure St.Louis saw that and glad habs developed him through the years but it's his smarts that got him where he is now.. second to his skill. At 24 he is not getting any taller.. lol.. BUT his body now can handle the NHL grind. (knock on wood)
Also interesting to see Farrell.. Habs gonna recreate the smurf line.. Hehe.. (koivu/petrov/bure)
Farrell/RHP/Caufield .. RHP would have to be center.

  6. I used to be a Canucks fan when they had Richard Brodeur in goal. Like that picture behind you, most people hated those jerseys, I loved 'em. Canadiens will never be the dynasty they were but are on the right track for a very good young team. Playoffs will be interesting this year.

  7. RHP with the 21st most points from the 2019 draft.

Redo that draft and he isn't a 7th round pick

  8. I was super excited to see the Whalers gear right up until I found out it was because it's Whalers night in NC. As someone who grew up in CT with the Whalers as my team from my first WHA game in 1978 right up until they were stolen away in 1997 I DO NOT want to see their unis desecrated by the Hurricanes. The Whalers are gone. Leave them alone. Bettman and Karmanos can suck a bag of Richards.

  9. The problem for Minnesota winning the central (aside from Kaprizov not returning, which it looks like he won't) is the schedule. Out of Dallas, Colorado and Minnesota, the Wild are going up against a higher caliber of teams. Dallas has the 'easier' schedule out of the 3.

Could go any direction obviously but at this point making sure the guys are ready for playoff hockey would be a smarter move than trying to claim that top spot.

  10. correct me if I'm wrong but even though they relocated canes have the rights to use whalers jerseys and so does the avs for nordiques, does that mean the jets can use thrashers jerseys as well?

how cool would it be for wheeler to wear atlanta gear again

  11. Canes don’t recognize the Whalers’ retired numbers, but they sure recognize the money that logo makes. Of course the Whalers aren’t moving back to Hartford but the disingenuous way they use the Whalers logo is disgusting. Even more disgusting was how they played in OT tonight.

  12. Whenever I hear talk about late draft picks that turn out to be excellent, I always think Pavel Datsyuk. He was drafted well into the 200's.

  13. Could Minnesota win the division? Of course. Would I bet on it? No way lol, anything could happen with the top 3 teams are separated by 1 point.

  14. THG your division stat reminded me, which teams have the highest playoff appearance %? I always wanted to look at more stats but I guess i don't understand how hockeyreference works haha

  15. Listen I got no problems with Harvey Pinard playing alongside Slafkovsky or anybody else for that matter, especially with a french sounding name, like Nadeau (Either B or J) and if both want to be sent to Montreal training camp after U Maine, so be it. It would be the same as Fantilli and his brother or Hutson and his. I got no problems, just as long as we, as fans, understand there were two Yamamotos in the same junior team at draft time too.

  16. Wilds maybe 1st now, but Avs are 1 pts back with a game in hand.. could leap over Wild.

  17. I went to school with Lizotte and never expected him to do that.

Live and learn, I know he's a good guy. Just got carried away and might have to serve some time in suspension.

  18. The silver lining of the kaprisov injury is that we were forced to find scoring depth. Boldys stepped and nyquist is getting back to potentially play on the third line. The wild have really grown this season and feel like if they can be healthy a few games before the end of the year they could get to the final.

  19. Ok why is there negativity towards Minnesota? Is it cause the Wild are constantly average? Making it into the playoffs but never park the first round?

  20. Go listen to the replay of the LA regional broadcast of the Lizotte cross-check. It might be the worst I've ever heard.

  21. MN are solid. Playing team hockey and finding ways to win. Honestly could have beaten Boston and really have not had a regulation lost in a long time. Should be an interesting week with Seattle and Colorado.

  22. Glad for the spotlight on Harvey-Bedard! 😀
On that note, THG, Bedard is also French (in origin at least), so Habs have your benediction for the Bedard bowl! Please, make sure to let Gary know.

  23. Harvey-Pinard has a journalist sister who works for La Presse if I remember correctly. She’s not allowed to create a story or interview her brother which is kinda strange…

  24. I think Wild have a 50% shot at making the conference final. The Wild making it out of the first round will make fan elated as we have learned to set a low bar for Minnesota men's sports teams come playoff time. Go Wild!

  25. I love the idea that the whalers are still being celebrated in the league. However, if Dallas ever had a North Stars night, it would be very upsetting. FYI, Wild won the Northwest division in 2008!
