Jarry and desmith one of the worst goalie combos ever
Pens are about to get "goalied" for the fifth year in a row.
A team with this kind of veteran leadership and playoff experience should not be having these kinds of games. Especially not at this point in the season.
I'd rather listen to ten minutes of this than watch 60 minutes of that.
DOC has been the best bottom six player for last month or so. He needs more minutes with decent players. Malkin effort was good, until he would turn the puck over and absolutely stop skating and watch his mistake turn into a rush the other way.
The Penguins extended NHL playoff season used to be my bridge to the Steelers and football season. But after the past few seasons, maybe it's time to give the Pirates and baseball another chance.
Maybe the question you and even the Penguins should be asking is: Why do you even want to go to the playoffs? Only a delusional mind can see this ending in anything but misery. Sometimes just getting there isn't worth it. Hey, I'd love to race in the Indy 500, but not if my car is 15 years old, leaking oil and can't get out of 2nd gear. What would be the fun in that? Seriously, what is the benefit of the postseason at this point? Just to say they got there again. Woohoo! Is there a ring or banner for that? I know, maybe they will get a shirt that says: "I played in the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs and I'll I got was this lousy shirt!"
I like how everyone is writing this season off as a goalie excuse. All the goalie problems do is magnify everything else wrong on the team because neither goalie is good enough to cover for them. Sure goaltending is bad, but that's not the heart of the issue. Fact is this team would be a one and done even with Brodeur in net. This was how the simpleton Flyers fans treated every season too. If only they had a franchise caliber goalie to steal games almost nightly, then everything else would be be fine. Whatever helps you sleep I guess.
According to the standings/stats, the Pens are currently the worst team in playoff position. They have the fewest points, lowest ROW, and a negative goal differential.
If they do make the playoffs, the results will reflect this. They will be lucky to make it to a game five and it may get ugly.
Pens need a full rebuild. They were terrible before Syd the Kid.
They have the ability to do those things mentioned right. To me the problem is in their mentality and that is not something that can be fixed with practising. You can work on the technical stuff.. But changing their mentality is much harder.
Hextall is gone after this year. What exactly does Burke do? Seriously? Other than screaming about Pride night what has he done?

you know DK you’re really emphasizing something that is irrelevant it doesn’t matter how you start it matters how you finish and the goaltending is absolutely atrocious. I don’t want this team to go into the playoffs. Why would I want to expand the emotional energy and caring when the people who put the team together don’t care as much as I do so screw them.
The third period was just as bad as the first. Even if they started well, they would have played bad in the third as they do 100% of games.
They lost this game in the third period, again, for the 1000th time this season. Yea, they had a bad start, you just expect them to lose the game in the third 100% of the time.

I said this in the 24/7 post game — but too late, as you were wrapping up. But how bad is the bottom half of the East if THIS Penguins team is still in a playoff spot, this late in the season? The Pens have offered their spot up to the Panthers on a platter, and Florida still can't string any wins together to take it.

The Wings are coming up and getting better. Ned just back to the pros and is playing for his job next year. The Wings had also called up several younger players looking for jobs next year. Not to mention Detroit almost always plays tough against the Pens, especially towards the end of the season. We don't like the Pens. We might not be making the playoffs but we will definitely try to ruin Pittsburgh's chances.
