  1. in 1984 the Oilers scored over 400 goals and were #1. OF COURSE everybody else's stats go up too. BUT, they were also unbeatable 2 days in a row. Like Boston, this year. Sorry Oiler fans, this is an anomaly, as it took 8 years for McDavid to get 50+ goals, while Ovechkin is working on his 10th 50 goal season… It only takes a hot goalie on McDavid to take edmonton out.
Mcdavid would have to stay in the league for 50 years to have a chance at Gretzky's or Ovechkin's or Bossy's record. ha ha ha …. overrated.

  2. Ask any Avalanche fan, after Leon's performance in playoffs last year, especially when you found out he was basically on one ankle, we recognize how good he is. Anyone that says he is a product of McDavid has obviously never watch him play

  3. Draisaitl and McDavid are best friends Draisaitl dont give a fuck about headlines he cares about winning.

  4. One of the reasons people over look Drai is that he is not flashy. He puts himself in the right position and plays a tight, super efficient game. Head up and keeps his stick on the ice.

  5. Drat knows that oilers fans understand his value and that’s all I think he cares about.

  6. What is sad is that with these two snipers, the Oilers are 3rd in their division. The need a better goalie and d. Their goals against is terrible.

  7. Draisaitl is a stud and a beast. This coming from someone born, raIsed and still living in Vancouver. Yes, I am a fan of him

  8. Why compare Iginla to Leon? Two different style of players, and Iginla only had Conroy or Langkow as his centers.

  9. Draisatl gets less than he deserves, but in my opinion it's not even close to the way Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is overlooked this year. He's had a career season by pretty much any superstar standard, on track for 100+ points. Just a few guys he's currently beating out are Nathan MacKinnon, Mitch Marner, Elias Pettersson, Jason Robertson, Erik Karlsson, Tage Thompson, Auston Matthews. But how many people outside of Edmonton and maybe pacific division rivals aren't sleeping on him?

  10. Leon is amazing! Hockey people know! Also called the best passer in the league by many hockey people!

  11. George Harrison was once asked if he felt bad for always being overshadowed in the Beatles, despite his obvious talent.

His reply "Are you kidding? I got to be in a band with John Lennon and Paul McCartney!"

Same reason Ekholm seems like the happiest guy in the NHL right now.

  12. I don`t think you`ll have a point here. MCD is simply too good. He`s doing stuff nobody in the league did for the last 20 – 30 years. Nobody since Lemieux or Gretzky did. The NHL has elite players.
But MCD is playing like a god, he`s on MJs level, just better than everyone else, and not only by a bit.
Draisaitl is propably the 2nd best player in the league right now. Look his assist last game, look at this game. He`s arguably the best passer in the league and a deadly sniper in the PP.
Leon is a calm human, not very outgoing in public. He could be an absolute star, if he was more outgoing and putting himself up and out a bit more.
    He doesn`t. It`s a personal choice.
There`s no hockey fan, that does not appreciate Draisaitls performance, and there`s not a single fan that would want him on his team, especially with his 8 million $ deal and his team first attitude.
Draisaitl has carried the Oilers when MCD was injured, he has won a MVP and a scoring title. Art Ross, Ted Lindsay, Hart Memorial.
Did you notice that all the Oilers players with MCD and Drai have carrer seasons this year?
RNH is 35g and close to 100 pts. Hyman sits at 33 goals and almost 80 pts.
It`s because Draisaitl and MCD are the 2 best offensive players in the league.
There`s just one difference: Draisaitl has 116 Pts in 73 games which is insane. He`s 12 points ahead of Kucherov, who`s a damn elite franchise player. That alone is great.
But MCD has almost 30 Pts more. He`ll have 150+ by the end, that`s alien.
MCD is soo much better than all the rest, there are no words to hail his performance. He`s almost 40 points ahead of Kuch, a dominating player on a 3 time cup champion.

Whatever you write, Draisaitl is getting plenty of attention for his performance. In fact, ppl don`t appreciate enough how good MCD really is. He`s so much better than everyone else. And thus earns the 3x times more attention he gets.
Nobody with a sense of hockey wouldn`t praise Draisaitl for his play.

  13. My initial instinct is I'd much rather have Draisaitl over Iginla. Concerned about recency bias, I wanted to pull up their figures head-to-head. And man. Iginla was pretty good, lol

    Its a tough call, honestly.

  14. i mean…he's obviously MUCH better than Iginla was. Would anybody argue that he isn't?

  15. Drai is definitely top 5-10 in this newer generation of players. He can pass he can shoot. he’s not as good of a skater as mcdavid but he skate. he can play the body. he can do it all. i think it’s easy to forget him bc of the walking highlight real mcdavid is but leon is gonna have is own place in the HOF too. i want them to stay together their whole career but if he left so he can prove that he is just as good that would be dope too

  16. Also 2009 Playoff Malkin put on the best playoff performance in recent memory. McDavid, Drai, and RNH all make each other better and all deserve credit.

  17. Draisaitl was better at times on one leg in the playoffs last year. Draisaitl takes center stage in the playoffs this year

  18. Watching him play is so different then just looking at numbers for sure. He’s physical, PP specialist, amazing passer and can shoot with sooo much accuracy. His own zone play is not the strongest, but I can see it slowly getting better. McDavid same thing otherwise they would both be +70! They are both so offensive minded it’s no surprise their own zone play needs some work. Either way, yes we have two franchise altering players!

  19. Draisaitl isn't as flashy as McDavid. I feel like that plays a part in why some people don't think he's elite. They don't watch the games so they don't see what Draisaitl is doing.
Draisaitl has also stepped up when McDavid's been out.

  20. LD’s snipes could make the hi-light reel for military special forces

  21. 100% agree…preach it regularly here in the maritmes…people forget.. I mean tonight the no look pass to kane, and if you look at the fastest players currently playing to get 300 goals he's number 5, behind oviedo, Connor, Stamkos and only 6 more games than crosby…pretty elite company!!

  22. It’s no secret anymore Drai has been a beast for a minute. Nuge is probably the more overlooked one these days

  23. deadmonton has had many franchise players that they have ruined. We will never know how good Drasaitle until he gets out of Mcdavids shadow. Comparing him to iggy is hilarious. Remembers Carter with the Sedins?
