1. Bednar said that there were passengers on the team – not the star players but probably the third and fourth line and a d-man or two. That's really disappointing especially under the circumstances. Bednar will forgive honest mistakes but not a lack of effort.

  2. I was there and the Wild played a gritty and very opportunistic game. Avs didn’t even play that bad overall and MN was just very good at making them pay for a few bad mistakes. And sadly about 30 seconds prior to the first goal, my buddy and I were discussing how we both really like Georgiev except for his puck handling which is atrocious. He proceeded to deliver a perfect pass to the Wild player and about 5 seconds after, down 1-0. That’s something I hope they address and work on improving with him in the offseason as I am terrified whenever he leaves his crease.

Sucks they lost a game that would’ve put them atop the central but I’m confident they’ll be more than ready for the playoff run in a few weeks regardless of where they finish.

EDIT: Soundcheck, Bob Marley, 3 Little Birds. Actually flipped on Pandora the day the Avs clinched the cup with the thought, “whatever song comes up will dictate how the game goes” and viola, that was it 🏆

  3. I might be wrong, but any time a goalie has to stand on his head to keep the other team from winning it might pay off for a game or two, but I don't think it holds up for a 7 game series. Now is one thing the playoffs are another. They literally held the wild's head underwater for the entire 3rd period.. we just didn't know the wild could hold their breath that long.

  4. A weird game. Two goals by defensemen and the forwards are blanked. Three goals allowed by major defensive mistakes. And I'm hanging the empty netter on Bednar. They tried a 6 on 4 earlier in the year and it didn't work; I can't help thinking there's just "too many d!cks on the dance floor" as Flight of the Conchords once said. If Georgie is in net for a regular PP that doesn't go in.
In any case, tough loss but it's not like they were horribly outplayed. How many posts – 4? 5? Wild were opportunistic and it worked. 44 shots usually gets you more than 2 goals. Till next time… just stinks that this was the chance to take the division lead.
    Feel better soon Chris!

  5. This team just isnt bringing the appropriate fear and urgency in the regular season and it bites them when playing playoff caliber teams and are looking at a game against them like the biggest game of their lives. Mack had the "are the playoffs here yet" look for the first 2 periods lol. Im not worried because the playoffs are a completely different thing and this team knows it. Tampa is going through the motions alot this year too

  6. Gotta wonder if they aren't just thinking playoffs again at this time even though seeding is at stake I don't think they are going to sweat matchups. May be wishful thinking but I still remember how they looked last year and then when the playoffs started it was a whole different animal out there. Man I hope Manson is getting close.

  7. The Wild cycled the puck at times at even strength and it looked like they were on the PP. Colorado needed more quality shots out of those 44. This happens quite often. Quantity is great but… Those defensive breakdowns, you can see the goal coming nearly 10 seconds before it happens. We need Josh Manson!

  8. the way I look at it, sure its an Avs lost, but if they play like that in 7 game series who going to be them? 3 post and unbelievable saves gave the Wild the win. Just Avs weren't able to correct the opportunities they gave up. I think the Avs staff will help the players correct these mistakes. The Avs looked scary god, minus the 2 mistakes. Im saying repeat after that loss.

  9. This seems to be the story of this season for the Avs: When it really counts, they fail. Hopefully not a bad omen for the playoffs, because this year the opponents, even in the Western Conference, are stronger than last season, but the Avs are weaker than last season, thanks to Sakic/MacFarland not replacing Naz and Burky! Btw, your beloved Girard showed why he is NOT a $5M/yr defenseman. I stay to my earlier argument, with Girard they might not have won the Stanley Cup.

  10. I don't feel the Avs were massively outplayed. I feel that Goaltending was the story of the night. Gustavsson came to play and Georgiev was a little leaky. That HORRIBLE giveaway for the 1st MIN goal set the tone. The 3rd period was all Avs, we just couldn't bury but 1 puck. Then the EN goal sealed the deal. Now Avs need to focus and keeo Dallas at bay….

  11. Honestly the shorthanded goals and the refs… They remind me of Vegas the wild do the year they beat us…. Corbin copy and the refs are complete trash….

  12. disagree, the Avs were totally outplayed but that's because they lost their way. Top line was fighting flow and passes all night(Mac's fan that lead to the Georgie turnover, fumble of flow and puck protection on the PP that lead to the short handed goal). In addition, until the third, the Avs weren't skating towards pucks and winning battles. Almost every puck battle was lost until the third. The stood around waiting for the puck to come to them instead of skating to the puck. Also, in the last few tough games it seems like we are afraid to get hit or put on a good hit along the boards which often lead to a turnover or a loss in a puck battle. The problem with coasting past bottom teams is that when real adversity shows itself we are coming up short(e.g. Jersey, Dallas, LA, PIT, Minnesota). The only top tier team we beat all this month was Toronto.

Can they do it, yes. But as you guys have said yourself in previous episodes….which Avs team is going to show up….
