God, the things I would do for players to want to actually come and plau for this team.

    In my eanhl dream.

We win top 3 and add a legit prize prospect in carlsson, fantilli or Bedard, plus a steal with Florida’s pick.

We see a big improvement next year and Monty or primeau with one proving to to be a legit starter.

Injuries and a bit of youthful burnout as guys adjustto the riggers on the nhl, push our picks from 14th in February to 8th in april.

We finish with 2 to 3 firsts, head into the 2024 draft.

    We sign PLD.

Hoffman, Savard, armia pitlick, drouin, edmundson, Dvorak, have all moved on.

Some of our gem prospects flame out, but others land.

Like heineman, Roy and farrell make it. Heineman surprises and becomes a 25 goal Second liner, others like beck, mesar, Kidney don’t become much, why because some will and some won’t. Not guessing which here just that some will and some won’t.

We sign a couple cheap but solid vets like Corey Perry and add a legit top 2 Dman via trade and start our run to elite times.

Never had this good of a prospect pipeline, coupled with Marty and Adam, this team will be dynamite in a few years

Firmly knocking on ALL the wood.

Can we just buy out Armia already? He has 0 trade value, is sucking up a roster spot, and does nothing. Like I feel as if he has a safe spot in lineup and that’s a problem.

I think the optimism needs to be cautious. As it stands right now, we have a lot of solid middle 6 forward prospects, and a bunch of interesting top 4 D man prospects, but we’re still missing game breaking elements.

The reasonable expectation is that all of our forwards (including Caufield and Suzuki, who i expect will be our two best players down the line) will keep progressing but, short of a miracle explosion a la jack hughes or tage thompson, I don’t see any of them cracking the top 10 in the league. (Although I can see both Caufield and Suzuki edging it.) We do have a lot of interesting options in the middle 6 though, I feel that we’re pretty much set for that.

Similarly for defense, we direly need an offensive dynamo, PP quarterback player. Matheson has been that for us lately, and Hutson is very promising… Still remains to see who can be our Makar / Hughes / Hedman / …

So yeah, we’re going to be good enough to pull out of the basement, but ideally that brings us to the top, and not just the middling 15th position that we all know too much from before the rebuild.

This is pretty much my thought process as well. Our roster is looking fantastic

I’m only worried about goaltending. But we have so many pieces, we’ll be able to sell for a decent one or sign a free agent one if one of our prospects don’t pan out.

We’re in a good spot, but we need more top of the lineup players 100%. I like Suzuki Cole and Dach, and am pretty optimistic on Slaf, but we absolutely need to add a premium talent, point per game guy if we hope to compete. Hopefully this draft

Blah, blah, blah. I’ve been listening to this for 25 years, optimism for NEXT year. Where is that coming from? Caufield is a midget, Gallagher is old and done, Drouin is an embarrassment. I’ve been a fan and have seldom missed watching a game for 60 years but management has been and remains basically incompetent. Does anybody actually believe that with a few minor changes we are going to compete for the cup?

I don’t mean to be negative but, don’t forget the hype drives engagement too. I like where this team is going don’t get me wrong but a lot has to go right for teams to be truly successful. Looks at the leafs and oilers.

I keep on dreaming that we manage to get our hands on Devon Levi.

In my mind, he is the natural choice for our future.
