It would be quite a story if Woo found another level and actually earned himself a call up at this point. Things just haven’t gone the way anyone hoped the last few years, but suddenly we’re seeing his name a lot again. I wish him the best.
For me, the rise of Jett Woo this season has softened the blow a little of missing out on Livingstone & Malinski. Jett is younger than both of those players, has been playing pro hockey for 3 seasons now and seems to be figuring things out.
Next season’s battle on the right side will be interesting. Hronek & Myers are the only ones that are signed, but will they keep Myers? Does Bear get a long term extension? Is Johansson NHL ready? Can Jett Woo earn a call up?
Best case scenario for the Canucks would be one of Johansson or Woo proving themselves as solid third pairing options for under 1 mill. Extending Bear could cost over 2.5, and that money is probably better allocated higher in the lineup.
