  1. Landeskog is the captain and deserves to be. And outstanding leader he does everything and exemplifies leadership with how he carries himself on and off the ice. It allows Mackinnon to just do his thing.

  2. mikko's forecheck is insane. He is a playmaker dominating the puck with zoning and precision passing. The guy always knows where everyone on the ice is. He stays one step ahead of everyone predicting their next move. Natty Mack might have the talent, But Mikko is the brains behind everything.

  3. I don’t think many if any Avs fan agrees that MacKinnon is the captain. He is captain material for sure, but Landeskog is the captain and everyone in that team agrees that Landeskog is the captain. Landeskog has always been getting this team fired up when they start slow, reeled in MacKinnon when it was needed, led by example and got into all the fights and arguments for his team. I agree with you most of the time but the “MacKinnon is the captain” take is not one of your best ones

  4. Mackinnon is not the Captain nor will he be as long as Landy is around. And he shouldn't be. Not saying Mac isn't Captain material, but he does so much better on the ice with Landy there. It frees up Mac to do Mac stuff. Also, the Avs reminded who is in charge of the Central division last night.

  5. scoring is up across the league. How many 100 point players will there be?

  6. MacKinnon is a great leader and has a huge impact on the pulse of the team. Landeskog is the captain without question.

  7. No Landy is the captain. You don’t watch Avs. He’s always acted like more of a captain than Nate.

  8. My dad used to work the ice crew at the Nassau coliseum in the 80’s. He told me stories about how Mike bossy would go on the ice hours before warmups and shot post- crossbar-post from the blue line. Working his way from one side of the blue line to the other. So to be honest this completely unintentional crossbar empty netter really isn’t that impressive.

  9. Okay usually you have good or agreeable takes.. this video just isn't it chief… Landeskog is by far the best captain in the league and it should be obvious everytime he is on the ice that he is THE Captain and is Mr.Avalanche… Mackinnon is just the star player and usually performs better. (But Landeskog himself is ALSO an absolute star himself) Landy has EVERYTHING i'd want in a hockey-player.. legit molded to perfection. (okay i wish he could stay injury-free)! In my opinion in terms of actual importance to the team i rate Landy>Rantanen>Makar>Mac…. even tho Mackinnon is putting up insane numbers

  10. Mac is not the captain of this team. In any way. He almost always defers leadership responsibilities even when Landy isn't around. Lack of maturity has pretty consistently been one of his major issues. He just gets angry when he feels like anyone isn't rowing full tilt (chickpea pasta). That's only a small fraction of what being a leader is all about.

  11. Sure any captain will tell ya you need a bunch of leaders on your team and the Avs have them. And I said when I saw it: that's the best empty net goal ever.

  12. As an avs fan, Landy is the captain, he is just more of a natural leader than Mackinnon

  13. Landy def best captain in the league. Nathan Mcplayoffs is the biggest cornerstone in our franchise.

  14. For the 2012-2013 Season, Landy was made captain, and has been since. What's important to look at here, is that in taking the Captain role, Landy's stats took a noticeable downturn. His rookie, Calder winning season of 11-12, he went 22G, 30A, for 52Pnts in 82 games. But 12-13, was 9G, 8A, for 17Pnts in 36GP (0.63P/G, vs 0.47P/G) from +20, to -4. You can look at Landy's stats across those two seasons at just how much of a difference the role of captain was.

He took the full weight and responsibility of that role, and shouldered it well. Even through the most agonizing season of 16-17. By letting Landy take on that role, one that he is now extremely experienced with now, Nate no longer needs to worry about being the leader, he can just be himself and push the team forward.

Landy will lead the team forward, and Nate will push everyone to do their best.

  15. Landy has kept Mack from going off the rains at times. Landy is our captain Mackinnon is our heart

  16. Not sure the Avs slapped the stars in the face it was a really close game and could’ve gone either way

  17. depth of the roster is the main thing keeping the Avs from repeating —they can not replace Kadri and Landeskog.
When the top 6 players for Avs are rolling they are tough to beat—-but unfortunately they don't have the depth to go all the way unless they get brilliant goaltending and avoid having any injuries whatsoever—still a great roster and if all the d-men are 100% may win.

  18. Did Mikko play something like 25-27min per game and carried whole team AS A CENTER while top players where injured autumn? Unreal season whem 50 goals and Kinnon, Landy and boys are at home.

  19. The C is not important and in a lot of case puts too much pressure on a player leading to their stats dropping.

  20. that empty net maybe wasn't Mikko's 50th goal of the season but 500th point of his career

  21. Lande is a natural leader who the youngest captain in avs history. He was like 23 when he got it m. It’s won’t change for a while

  22. Captain should be the best at leading the team. If they are the best scorer of the team is a bonus.

  23. crazy thing is when mackinnon and lande was out of the line up he was still putting up good points without the 2 of them, proves he’s still a good player without mackinnon

  24. If Landy was in the lineup, he would have made sure that Mac and Rant wouldn't have been fluffing off all season, and they would have long since hit their 50 goal and 100 point milestones.

  25. Being a captain isn't just about scoring goals, it's about being a leader, that's Landy 100% he's proven it for years since Mac was a rookie.

  26. Rantanen gets little no love and it surprises me, especially as a Avs fan who has been watching him all year

  27. Lets just agree that Landy is The captain and Nate is the superstar and Rantanen is the second superstar

  28. If you watch the Av's with any regularity then its clear that Mac isn't Captain material. He is absolutely the star player with utter on ice dominance but he doesn't have a leader personality. Gabe is the glue that holds the guys together on the ice and in the locker room regardless of the points he racks up. Any Av that talks about this makes it so clear as well. They all look to Gabe and they have definitely missed his presence on the ice this year. If he comes back for game one of the playoffs this team is going to go crazy! Can't wait.

  29. To say Mac is a better captain then Lande is crazy for a hockey fan to say. Being a super star does not make u a better leader. Give your head a shake

  30. Mack is definitely NOT the captain. He may lead by example with his performance on ice but he’s way too hot headed to be the captain of the team. He’s even said he doesn’t want to be the captain. Landeskog is the perfect captain for the team and, to be honest, the best captain in the league as well.
