Here in montreal the media eats you up and spits you out if you dont produce or have a bad game
Montreal media is the worst in the NHL, because they coddling up to some of the worst fans in the NHL. They have this " the sky is falling mentality"" that over reacts to everything, I'm a Habs fan in the west, and every time I go a Habs game , I'm embarrassed to c how some of them act. Impossible to watch the game, because they stand up and start screaming even when there's nothing going on???
I can't speak for the Carolina media market since I live in Nashville. But I would think our media markets are about the same if not the same. He went from what I can only prescribe as a "tougher" market where everything you do is under a microscope. To a market where hockey is going to be second to that of football and heck somewhat soccer now. The guy has seen both sides of it and likes the laid back of the Carolina market where he's not berated everyday. Just what I am thinking.
Of course it's easier in Carolina, hardly anyone expect Kk to become 1C. They expect him to be 2C and he seems to do quite ok on the position.
Some people can't handle the pressure. It's fine. No shade at all. He might have anxiety issues. Who knows.
I was critical of kk and signing him to the extension. Being a Carolina fan I thought it was a mistake. I was saying last season to lock up necas because I feel he has a higher ceiling and can be a top center or winger. Now necas is breaking out and I’m saying I told you so! But also kk has really made strides this year and as of late. If the growth continues I think we have our second line center behind aho for years to come.
Imagine being 18/19 and having the Montreal media poop all over you the way they did him. You couldn't pay me enough.
He had a classic childish hissy fit and left, Buh Bye. Whatever he has to say about Montreal is irrelevant. They gave him a shot then ran…..
you are adding fuel to the fire using ''if'', lets give him a few years before calling him a steal or a bust
He has never been mentally tough, that’s why he was a failure in Montreal. He’s weak!
easy for KK to say… Hes playing on one of the best teams we've seen in a while for 2 years, he plays the pp.. top line minutes… and hes barely able to do better than his rookie season. OF course things arent stressful when your one of the highest paid players, living in sunshine, not looked at as a star contributor. Just another player on a good team. The habs build legends like no other team, he did not have the mental strength to push through the pressure and be something more. LASTLY, its hypocritical of him to insult the pressure with a comment that will undoubtedly bring pressure from the media.. hmmm maybe he misses montreal.
I think Drouin will have a turnaround season on another team. Playing for the habs and their fanbase is not easy.
LOL put him as teh number 1 center, as was Montreal's wish and see if he will not feel stressed.
He is garbage shouldn’t have drafted him either
The dude's got 15 goals but the knuckleheads in Raleigh like to pretend KK is the 2nd coming of Wayne Gretzky. Let's see if he disappears in the playoffs again like he did last year before we annoit the guy as anything more than a middle of the road 3C.
In my opinion, kk would have benefitted well under MSL, but it is what it is, and honestly, you have to be a certain type of person to ay there.
Of course its stress free in Carolina. Its very easy to play when NOBODY CARES!!!
Half empty arena there, it needs Canadian residents to prop up there attendance numbers.
Kotkaniemi one of MANY people who CANNOT survive in a real Hockey market, they can only exist where nobody cares about Hockey.
F*** HIM!!!
Point production-free life
Nothing wrong with what he said. Raleigh is a great city, better weather, friendly people. Montreal is, well it’s Montreal which is OK if you’re into that sort of thing. People like different things, it’s life.
Hard to play for a team that doesn't respect you. KK is doing well I am happy for him.
A PLACE where no one cares about hockey, no passion. Sounds not* nice to me!
On pace for a 40pt season in 82games, and thats his career best, after what 5 season in NHL? As a montreal fan i dont feel too bad about this whole situation. Hes making just under 5m per season for 7 more seasons, so not too bad if he continues to improve. All in all it was a no win for anyone.
Not sure it was a stab at Montreal really. Ive been to South Carolina, and it is really really stress free over there, and everyone is extremely friendly. Never been to a place with so many nice people. People say Canadiens are nice? Not even close, lol
