Edit: it’s probably an injury that if we were in the playoff hunt he’d be playing. But as it stands, there’s no reason to play the kid now. He got his first game out of the way and looked good doing it. Let him rest up and hit the gym in the off season and come to Training camp ready to grab a roster spot.
Hockey God Don’t Giveth, Just Take
Physical players in the playoffs usually take some bumps and bruises. If he’s got something ailing him, it’s not surprising or a problem. We can’t utilize him now? That’s fine. I’m grateful for the peak – and I’d be disappointed if this kind of player DID leave a playoff battle at 100%. This is why off seasons exist.

Well, if that was Kasper at less than full strength I’m excited to see what he’ll do at 100% next year
I always get such whiplash when we hear « he’ll hopefully be ready next game », and then it turns into « actually he’ll be out for who knows how long ».
This is going to make the summer just a little harder to get through. But maybe he can start taking steps towards being ready next season right now.
