They stopped letting me buy $15 auto pucks online and their logo sucks so fuck em I guess

  2. all1good

Hope they enjoyed their championship. Gonna be significantly more difficult without a top 5 NHL club supplying talented skaters and a goalie

What benefit is it for them to be independent?

  4. MrBl0bfish04

Will another team be created where we can have prospects or what is the situation looking like for us?

I haven’t really followed everything that has happened with the minor league baseball restructuring but there is something to be said about controlling your minor league system.

Dundon just needs to buy the Checkers and make them the Canes AHL affiliate again.

  6. cblguy82

How does this impact the players the Canes have under contract ? Do we need to move them to a new affiliate? assuming they would be pulled from CHI once they go independent…

Norfolk Admirals back in the AHL awwwww hell yeah! Lol

  8. bk00pi

They must be annoyed with Koochie getting called up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down.

  9. jrfowle3

    Please reaffiliate with the Checkers

  10. macaroni_3000

Hopefully we go back to the Checkers, that made too much sense before

Growing up with minor league baseball, my understanding of the AHL is largely shaped by that.

I just don’t understand how this is a good move for Chicago or the AHL.

I get that their best players won’t get called up, but they also will never get those players to begin with. Lajoie, Rees, Kochetkov, Ponomarev, Stromwall, Dugan, Suzuki, Drury, Honka, and many others are all Canes contracts.

PLEASE GOD LET IT BE CHARLOTTE

  13. CanesFan06

Charlotte might be a burned bridge. Building an arena in Wilmington though…

    Just let me dream ok?

  14. Canna-Caniac

Oh Please get with the checkers again! When Aho was on the checkers was the most fun it ever was!

Greensboro, play at the Coliseum, make it happen!

That’s interesting. Chicago has always been one of the more independent like operating ahl organizations. They want to win whereas when the NHL organization also owns the ahl team the focus is more development of younger players. Not completely surprised by this but it’s interesting. Charlotte makes the most sense for Carolina but there were likely some differences between the ownership groups that lead to that relationship ending so it’ll be interesting to see what happens.

I don’t know what this means lol

  18. Delta_Flow

Would they want to loan certain players to different teams in that case, or would they just keep everyone there in the AHL for a whole season?

What about the Canes building their own AHL affiliate arena around Lake Norman area where there’s a ton of people with not all that much to do in the winter outside of driving into Charlotte? Call ‘em the Loch Norman Noogies and build a brand like the Savananah Bananas and have a rule if you’re a Noogies player and get into a scrap on the ice, your goal is to give your opponent a noogie. Other fun events and promotions can follow, like Noogies for Cancer where people pledge so much as to be able to give noogies to friends. I wanna go to some Noogies games. Then when Noogies get called up to Raleigh, some may still carry on the tradition of giving noogies during a fight, thus maintaining our Bunch of Jerks image! Imagine Kootchie noogieying Marchand. Lol 😂 anyway, time to hit this bowl again.

As a Wolves fan, im kinda upset about this. I genuinely liked the affiliation with the Canes. I really hope Wendal and the owner change their mind on this.

  21. Huge_Deke19

Idk why the canes and checkers parted ways…seems idiotic to break up with a professional team 2.5 hours away

  22. Alternative_Voice229

Lol fuck them. Canes gave them a championship last year and they want out?

Dundon and Khan need to patch things up and rejoin forces. Have the Panthers buy the Solar Bears in Orlando and have the ECHL Solar Bears relocate to, I don’t know, Tallahassee? Mobile? Maybe Columbia?
