Ducks didn't have much depth then Drysdale or so got injured early on. Gibson in Net making over 6M gives them no chance to win. Guy couldn't get it done in 2014 when rushed him into NHL. Maybe if they left him in AHL he would win Calder that year. Either way none of those Anaheim Goalies are good enough to win Cups as Carolina finds out every time Frederek Anderson or what his name hehe. Maybe if they got Bedard they are a lot closer to being Good again than Sharks. Kings are close to a major rebuild with Anze Kopitar on his way out. Byfield with his 3 goals don't even belong in NHL. He will never be a top line center is worst Winger on LAK. Can't even beat out 5'6 Lizotte when he is 6'5 to be 3rd or 4th line center nor RHC Kupari hehe ;).
I said last year that this year will be the last year the Ducks are bad but they may be really bad to get the pick they need. I stick by that call.
I want to talk about the ducks!
Watched the entire Oilers game and I will say that Anaheim definitely has a fun to watch team. They are fast and they have some talent.
Love the 22-22 title pls don't change it
Can you comment on Cale Makar? He is out "indefinitely" per Jared Bednar with a new LBI. There are a lot of people saying that they're just resting him for the playoffs and that his injury probably isn't serious, but they don't want to say "we're resting him for the playoffs". Do you think this is the case??
Really hope we can continue losing this season and get a shot at Bedard
I’m looking forward to the CBJ breakdown
You forgot to mention Sasha Pastujov from Sarnia Sting, 46 Games played 30G and 49A. I think if they land Bedard they should go after a Defenseman to solidify that Young defense until it matures, and I think they are pretty set other than getting more physicality to protect these guys
As a Die Hard Ducks fan the future is bright for this organization. A lot of great prospects and pieces.
What does Scott Niedermayer do for the Ducks other than please the fan base? Does he have any influence?
I think the Ducks get Connor Bedard, and then we get to the Stanley Cup Finals and win
I am really excited for the ducks future right now
I think the Ducks will be fine sooner, with or without a top 5 pick. They have a lot of skill already. As the current monster teams age out, we could see a fairly huge flip in who makes the playoffs in the next couple years.
Shannon is messing up titles, he must be getting tired from all these late nights
With or without Bedard, the Ducks need to make a push for the playoffs next year. Anything less is a failure.
Eakins needs to go. Doesn't matter who we draft, doesn't matter if there is a splash in free agency, the biggest problem with Anaheim is coaching. Also there is a total lack of forward talent in San Diego. Verbeek needs to address that problem.
If the Ducks won the lottery and got Bedard I think they would have the potential to become a bubble team within two seasons. Even if they end up with a #5 pick I'd say add a year to that prediction. Key to me is to bring in a better coach than they have now.
Sounds like someone forgot Dallas Eakins was still coaching Anaheim this year. Boston would be a 40-game winner under that guy, maybe.
So far it’s literally the 22-23 season…they’ve won 23 times in the 2022 season.
I would suck if the team doesn’t get the number one pick bc of this horrible season
Mason McTavish and Bedard on the same team after their combined Junior experience could be a real scary duo for other teams to face. McTavish could be the BIG brother that Bedard may need to be successful 5+ years down the road. I know people always comment on the size of Bedard, even though at every level he has had this criticism and at every level so far has simply blown through it. But if he can have a few big guys with talent to play with it could be a force multiplier.
Not a Ducks fan, but that's a duo I would watch.
Couple other things with the ducks:
1) they need some size, literally no net front presence on either end of the ice, get bullied off the puck in the corners/edges to often
2) puck possession: we spend 80% of the time in the other teams zone. Can’t get a rhythm offensively if you’re struggling to get a cycle going
3) no transition game: ties into the first two, ducks are abysmal at carrying the puck into the offensive zone. The classic dump and chase is their method, and when you have guys getting bullied off the puck, isn’t a recipe for success
4) defensive system: it’s one thing to bring in guys, but how our defensive play is structured is an issue. Chaotic, no consistent assignments, just a complete mess in the defensive zone
Some of those are a coaching thing, Eakins is not the way. I don’t expect someone to come in and fix things immediately, we’re still not there. But a consistent defensive system and stressing puck possession would go a long way
And, as stated, we could use size. Zegras is a light 6 foot, Bedard/fantili are not big players, dry stale is 5’11, and zellwegger is noticeably undersized. Mctavish and terry are the largest of the core at 6’1, but I still think we could use a bit more large sandpaper type players
Assuming we get the number 1 pick, I think the Duck could be serious contenders in 2025-26 season, possibly earlier in 2024-25.
12:41 I think getting Bedard will be a huge boost to the Ducks. As a Ducks fan I can only dream this would happen but we’ll see soon enough. Overall unless the defense improves they won’t be near the playoffs even with Bedard on the team. Prob a mix of developing and signing a top pairing dman
I just wish any other team than the Ducks get Bedard.
well Terry and Zegras contract numbers this season will decide McTavish because Zegras is a RFA this summer as well just like Terry
Ducks fan here! Defense has been a kick to the gut for yeeeears. Watching Gibson to be left out for dry most nights, I am okay if he decides to leave soon. I love my club but A great player should be with a great team in his prime. Not sure if anyone else is I’m a bit worried about eakins, seems like we get great players but when they play for us, they fail to meet up to expectations, (ex shattenkirk and klingberg) fault of coaching staff?
Personally, We need a big name for center or defense and a great draft pick.
That being said when i see other teams like the Kraken that move fast, with precise passing and play, it’s difficult to imagine us getting there by next season. But I have hope, I think we are in a good position with the cap and i hope things improve next season.
Also hate how the kings got out of this quicker than us. Ah Quick lol
as for the end of the video and outlook I am waiting until I see who the coach ends up being before I have any faith of light at the end of the tunnel because if we hire from within I doubt it gets better any time soon because San Diego has sucked recently too so it makes it hard to believe that would be the answer behind the bench. If we do manage to win the draft lottery I would expect it to speed up the rebuild to maybe be in the playoffs in the next 1-2 years but if we draft 3-5 I would not be surprised to see it take 3-5 years to get back to the promised land
