He’s still not producing anywhere close to last year. Or acting like a $10.5 million player. Also when he was moved to right wing this sub loved it as it put together Pelletier-Kadri-Huberdeau which everyone thought would be great. It didn’t work out, but it’s not like Huberdeau was great prior to and it’s not like he’s as good as last year since.
This board just loves small sample size and hindsight to try and prove things that are nonetheless not that true.
He’s playing better. But still not producing at a pace you expect of a player of his caliber

If it had worked out (like it did for Tkachuck), Sutter would have been hailed as a genius. I’m glad they gave it a try, even though it wasn’t ultimately successful. Anything to optimize player use. I don’t think that trying new things with players should be something we shy away from, especially as the game changes. I do think Huberdeau will have a better year, next year, when all the expectations are lesser and he is used to the Canadian market and media.
