Really appreciate Goldman on the pod, she's knows her stuff and have smart and logical takes on things. Just wish she could speak a bit slower.
she's really smart good balance of analytics and common sense
You could have the best tender in the league, but until this team buys into the TEAM DEFENSE and hard backchecks mentality… Just not going to matter! Just an opinion!
Where did she come from? She had a lot of insight and is well spoken.
Which ever way you slice, this season has been a big step forward in many ways for the Sabres. We are almost entering the last week of the regular season and the Sabres are still in the hunt for a playoff position. It is unlikely they will make it but one should accentuate the positives. Yes, goaltending let us down at times this season and the defense was a bit leaky but the Sabres are a very young team. I kind of like the idea of Luukkonen/Levi tandem next year. Luukkonen has shown he can play really well. Yes he has had bad games but he is still quite young. Perhaps the addition of a quality veteran similar to Anderson will be just the touch needed. As for Comrie, he didn't seem to hit the mark. Not saying he can't if the whole team improves the same amount next season as this season. As for the defense, they too are very young and should improve. Once again the addition in the off season of a quality veteran may help. The Sabres will probably lose Okposo, Girgensons & Olofsson but appear to have enough good young talent in Rochester and elsewhere to replace. They may also lose a couple of good young players if they trade for a quality defenseman. To me on the offensive side the Sabres have been above expectations. Their centers in particular impressed me. When you look at Thompson, Cozens, Mittlestadt and Krebs, I'd bet many teams would love to have such a stable. That said, the Sabres appear to me to a team very much on the upward trend. Add to that they are quite a young team. The future looks very promising.
Please don't trade UPL! Let Comrie go if anyone goes. Iif Adams is as smart as he seems to be and they do, in fact focus on defense for the entire team system then the Goalies wll benefit immensely. We have seen games , like the one on Long Island, where the boys showed good strong defense for 60 minutes. Keep the youth and keep moving in that direction, myabe trading for a strong veteran defense presence.
