I really hope we go in a different direction next year. There are so many good free agents that are on the market. Plus I’m so tired of the canes looking like the « Dollar tree » of hockey teams.

I would be okay with a 1 year deal at a very small AAV, like 1.5m at most. He deserves more time to see if he can break out of his funk, but tying ourselves to him for any longer and/or spending any more cap on someone who, face it, has done very little in quite a few games with us, would be a rotten move.

I’m not interested. Hopefully someone else is.

Edmonton offered him an extension for cheap and while he wasn’t opposed to the money, he wanted a fresh start somewhere else. This is per Oilers GM Ken Holland.

I say this because I think he likes it in NC and he will probably re-sign on a cheap contract

Would have to be a fairly cheap deal. Really think this team needs to make some serious changes to its forward group next year.

He has earned $1m per year. I’d rather have Noesen for $1m

Translation of the translation…We’ve given him a short term low money extension offer and now it’s on him to take it or become a UFA when we don’t qualify him.

I do like his play but not for anything near $3m a year. I would say a max of $1.5m with maybe 2 years if it was near the $1m a year

This fanbase has somehow not learned its lesson on being patient with newly acquired players. He’s not going to be a first liner; more than likely he will be a career third liner, but as we’ve seen with KK, Skjei (who was ~26), and others sometimes it just takes time to adjust in the system.

Absolute worst case scenario for Puljujarvi is he is just a Jesper Fast replacement and just plays the role of the defensive forward that doesn’t rack up a ton of points. Pretty low risk player to continue to develop that plays dump & chase, defensive Brind ‘Amour hockey.

Interesting. I thought the plan all along was to develop him over the summer and give him a prove it deal for next season.

Hopefully he gets a 1 year prove it deal.

I like the way they have developed KK and I don’t think Jesse can be fixed during this year, he needs a good summer and camp to get going.

He’s been able to hold his own on any line and that’s a big plus for us.

I’d like to see him back for depth. Much rather carry him than Stepan or stastny

I think they re-sign him to a 3 year deal for around 1m aav

I think you sign him as a fourth liner with the intent of upgrading the third line wing spot to somebody who can score more. I like Fast but that dude misses so many open nets.

In an ideal world our 4th line looks something like Martinook-Drury-Puljujarvi next year because we’ve gotten some middle six scoring depth

Should pass. As an Oiler I can tell you he has no desire to play. He never gives a full effort etc etc etc

Like having a whining baby in the locker room. You will see next year what he’s all about
