Really hope he can emerge as a valuable NHL player for us next year..if he can develop even half as quickly as Matty did we are going to be sitting pretty.
Might be worth it to have a full year in the AHL next year but we’ll figure out for sure this offseason where they want him
/u/alienbanter you beat me to it! The /r/hockey thread for this news is here for anyone interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/12hx9zz/kraken_pr_the_kraken_have_reassigned_forward/
As I noted there, this won’t impact his ‘entry level slide’ by using up the 1st year of his 3-year Entry Level Contract. Only NHL games count for that, not AHL.
I’m guessing he’ll stay with the Firebirds for their entire playoff run. Hopefully this will be a great opportunity for him to keep growing and get more pro experience as he pushes for a full roster spot next season.
To me the focus next year should be on developing Wright to be able to take the 2nd line centre spot by the start of the 24-25 season. Wennberg’s contract will be up and those dollars will likely be going to Benier’s 2nd contract. Having Wright still on his ELC will allow the team to stay competitive that year.
Woohoo go Wright, get more good practice in!
Keep him in AHL. No need to rush. He’ll be ready when he’s ready.
We’re not in a position to give him top 2 line minutes like we did Beniers, he can compete for that job next year
I dont know why Im even letting it bother me at all, but people calling him a bust all over social media is obnoxious and irritating.
