There needs to be a check box that says « Bullying Works »

I will own up to being quick to judge. But he was playing like complete shit to start the year.

Very happy he turned it around, he seems to be loved in the room. Never hated the person, I was just disappointed in his play.

Being a movable piece that can play wing and center up and down the lineup is super valuable. If he keeps up this level of play, this team is going to make waves. This team could vault to the top of the standings as soon as next year if Levi and Mitts stay to form.

Ill be the first to admit…when I saw tge Sabres/Stars game in January in Dallas…he was BAD. I counted 3 turnovers in the neutral zone. Still not a fan, but appreciating his game right now.

I absolutely need to fill out this form. He has looked solid during this push and regardless of whether or not we make it, I’m excited to see how he’ll perform next year.

God, I don’t think I’ve ever been excited about both Buffalo sports teams simultaneously.

I refuse to sign one, I never gave up on him, saw him live in the juniors and he was smooth as butter. It took him a while to stop makin dumb turnovers, but his hustle and decision making the other 9/10 times he touched the puck would be excellent. Good to see he has actually started shooting. He’s not bad at it. Welcome to Mittlstudt Szn (patent pending).

For the first half and a bit of the season Casey was tasked with carrying a line as a center and did very poorly. He has done much much better when he got moved to the wing with someone else driving the play and now on the top line with Tuch and Skinner who drive the play.

If he can keep this up he will have a spot on the middle 6 next year on Cozens wing on the 2nd line, or with two strong skaters on the 3rd line. Mittelstadt – Krebs – Kulich could be an interesting line with two players that can battle for space and help Mitts out.

He’s really come on and giving 200% effort out there. I had concerns I was seeing some Sam in him (not finishing checks, never out of breath, not physical, not coming back to play D) and he didn’t want to be with the club. Now there’s no doubt he wants to make a difference and win for his team (and friends and roommates).

It’s easy to cross from valid criticism to exaggerated hatred, just like valid plaudits to exaggerated fanboying.

The most interesting voices to me will always be the ones that work to adhere to reality. Casey was a net negative on the ice for most games in the early season.

He was rightfully moved down the lineup. Olofsson and he seemed to be a black hole. Then Olofsson went scorching hot and, it seems now, that was attributable more to Casey than Vic.

Vic fell off a cliff and Casey continued climbing and now Casey has earned the opportunities and is coming through clutch as fuck.

I felt when VO was red hot that he was a perfect trading chip at the deadline, but was shouted down. I felt that way because he is extremely streaky, older, more expensive, and one-dimensional. I’d still like to move him.

The differences between him and Mitts are huge though, Mitts is younger, feistier, multi dimensional. We should consider a decent contract extension this off-season.

He’s better, but still not that good.

Still, he will be a good 3C and I can wear my Mitts winter classic jersey without embarrassment.

His passion and off-ice work was always there, but his execution was poor and decision making was bad for the first half of the season. He’s morphed just in this season from being a guy that shied away from physical battles and tried to be a little too cute to a feisty, physical presence on the walls and is developing into a dynamic two-way playmaker.

I certainly ragged on him for some of his blind passes and wanting him to battle more, and he’s cleaned those parts of his game up very well now. It’s helping him turn into a key piece of this team instead of a black hole on the third line. I think Jost coming in and playing the way he has really helped too.

His good play now doesn’t make his bad play early in the season good

You guys do 1 pull up.. get it done and post it..

    I can’t anymore

  13. themule0808

Listen to a recent Granto 8nterview saying how much easier it is for cozens and Tage with Dahlin and power on the backend..

He says Casey has it so much harder because he does jot have elite puck mover on his backend..

He is proving what meatballs has seen..given the chance with the first line

Needs a section stating « I have learned my lesson and will refrain from manufacturing scapegoats from every single player that doesn’t happen to develop into a consistent top line/pair player. »

  15. sadbuffalosportsfan

I’d sign him to 5 years at 3M if he’d do it.

We’re always going to need a guy like him, he’s a known commodity, and well liked in the room.

  16. BillsGymRat

I knew defending Mittelgoat wasn’t crazy

  17. HilmDave

I expect to see SO MANY of these absolutely littering this sub across the coming weeks. Get to it you sons of bitches.

He had some rough stretches and it’s fair as a fan to point them out, but he is having a hell of a redemption arc and is just playing amazing hockey, it’s great to watch.
